You will be charged at the new tariff from the date that SP took over on 7th December - the 30th December will be the date you'll probably be able to initiate a switch because that's when the technical and administrative details will have been completed. If you try to do before then your account will be in limbo and the switch will probably fail.Chris_Cross said:Finally showing some details in my SP account, showing tht my switch is in progress from YE. They have quoted that "We expect to start your supply on 30th December, 2020." So I am sort of hoping that at least I will be charged at my old YE tariff till then, does anyone know if this is correct?.
Under the Tariff Details they are quoting "Energy Exclusive" with a code underneath of "caveats ERC_FIXED_E23B ERC_FIXED_E23B", but still not displaying any actual figures anywhere or any documentation, which is a shame, but hopefully soon.
Transferring something like 70,000 plus accounts - some in credit, some in debit and many where no one has bothered to send in readings for months is not a trivial exercise.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I've been with Yorkshire Energy for more than 2 years and have been very happy with their value and service. They had even renewed my deal in Sepember at the previous year's prices.
Unfortunately it looks like my account will be ending up around £50 in debit which will mean dealing with the receivers and debt chasers. On the plus side the YE billing system seems fairly robust so hopefully there won't be room for any discrepancies. I have all the bills downloaded and photographs of the meter.
I've done a quick back of an envelope calculation and it looks like Scottish Power's special exclusive tariff is going to cost me 28% more. I've given my readings so there's not much to do for now except sit back and wait for this to play out, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Very similar but mine works out to be a rise of 21% assuming we are put onto the 'exc tarfiff' for former Yorkshire customers. Ironically though the prices available had you signed up as a new customer prior to SP being appointed SOLR are quite competitive (until 12month renewal time that is). In my case with my usage:addled said:I've been with Yorkshire Energy for more than 2 years and have been very happy with their value and service. YP was £68.89
SP appears to be £83.31 (with their exclusive SOLR contract)
A new SP customer (again with the same usage) £75.17 only available via price comparison sites.

There's no incentive for SP to hurry a switch. Why would they want to, they've got 74000 'captive' new customers who, unable to avoid the 'exclusive' SP tariff, atm cannot switch away . SP can always use the excuse of being overwhelmed by the input of vast new levels of customers compliments of Ofgem!. Off topic I know but, has the Tonik switch been sorted yet?

Thanks to a post I found my prices out, good job I was sitting down, I stopped with YP as they fixed my rate as the same as the last year. I qualify for the warmer home discount but YP were still cheaper. But now my question is, with it not being our fault and I went with a company who offers the warmer home discount, can I claim it. I know there is normally a cut off date but I will have to wait and see

My situation is similar, they issued the final bill this weekend and stated they will refund by direct debit the remaining credit on the 23th DEC.matelodave said:
They are responsible to ensure that you get your credit back however if you'd already left YE when they went bust you wont get transferred to SP's books so you'll have to wait until the administrator sorts it all out which can (adn usually does) take several months - it took me four months and threatening letters to Utilita to get my £30 back from Eversmart and some people are still getting bills from when they went bust in September 2019.Dr_Gonzo_95 said:Hi guys,
Not read all the thread sorry, but I was with YE and started a switch with OVO on 10th November that completed on the 30th.
Then found out the YE are ceasing trading and customers (and supposedly debt/credit) moving to SP.
I've got over £300 credit with YE, rang YE as soon as I found out and was told that the new supplier would supply my final bill etc. After ringing SP was told that they aren't dealing with this as I've already switched I'm not their customer. I argued that I had credit with YE and that my final bill hadn't been produced so as far as I was aware SP was liable for that. But she kept repeating the same thread.
I noticed someone else had the same sort of conversation with SP, does anyone know what's going to happen? Is this an ofgem issue, or do I have to wait for the administrators to sort themselves out?
On the 11th November I got an email to say that my subscription was cancelled with them, but I notice on my account that there is a DD due to be taken in December.
You need to keep up the pressure and make sure you've got all your bills, statements and bank statements just in case you end up fighting them but bear in mind they are more concerned about sorting out the customer who transferred than those who are creditors so it could be a long haul.0

Sounds like this is going to be a right shafting that S/C is awful!
I have noticed these days the regular issue is with that cheap unit rates, but got you on that well and truly and like other posts there is nothing you can do to influence it.
Regarding SP I have had radio silence for 7 days since I filled in their form asking for information and meter readings, I look forward to the end of the month and prepare to escape from them, like others though I expect the best part of 2 months being shafted on a rate I have no influence over.
That being said the market does seem not much cheaper than the SP rates being mentioned hmm. I think time for a real dig some time. I loved the YE rate following the British Gas debacle as we ended up saving enough to pay our water bill for 6 months, doubt it is going to be as nice this time round.0

Well it's not going well so far! I submitted my meter readings to SP on Monday last week when they asked for them, having submitted the same readings to YE the previous day. They are asking for meter readings again. We're sorry you've changed your mindHello my name, We are writing to confirm that your application for an energy supply from ScottishPower has been cancelled on 6th May 2019. Oh jesus. Do we think it might be because you are previous SP customers? I have no email like that.
The 23rd December is a strange thing though.0
