So what does the validation process entail? Does it mean that the meter actually has to be physically read and checked by an an independent third party (notwithstanding smart meters)? The implication of that is that customers cannot be trusted to give proper readings and will try and manipulate the system, or interfere with the meter or supply or something, which is rather insulting.
Or does it mean that someone looks remotely at meter readings and usage patterns, and analyses whether the readings are sensible and follow on properly etc. I have never experienced this, or been aware of it, with previous switches. Or is it just to check basic details like address and meter references, and effect database changes.I am mid switch for both electricity and gas, and all this palaver is rather concerning. This time I have come away from dual fuel, and have gone for two different suppliers. The electricity process definitely seems to be in more of a mess than the gas one. Apparently suppliers are failing to even work to their own rules, secure in the knowledge that they will not suffer any sanction, and even if they do it will be outweighed by some corresponding benefit. As customers we seem to be at the mercy of incompetent, inefficient or unhelpful suppliers, who nevertheless hold most of the power in the relationship.0 -

I still haven't heard anything, and I reckon my credit will be around £200 as well.

Well as promised my YE credit has appeared in my SP account that's gone from closed to sorry your leaving
and says
""As your account’s in credit, we’ll automatically refund your balance into your bank account. If you cancel your Direct Debit, we’ll send you a cheque.""
According to the email I received
""Once the Yorkshire Energy credit gets applied on the account, the system will initiate the refund and it will take another 15-20 working days for bank transfer/cheque through post.""
So far so good, hopefully direct to my bank account0 -

ScottishPower has still not taken a DD as expected. So apart from direct payments I have made, nothing would have been paid for utilites since December. If a company can mess things up, they have managed to make errors at every single step. Even the credit from Yorkshire Energy has not been applied yet.
Also have to deal with them at work for a couple of properties, here again they are incapable of answering the simplest of questions. Thought BG was bad due to their multiple payment centres not allocating funds properly, ScottishPower have managed to beat them hands down for incompetence.Truth always poses doubts & questions.
