SP has no resources to spare for adequate customer service...

SP taken final bill DD today as specified. Began switch on 1 Jan, so 2 months.0

Departing SP, going to SO. Saving not massive at 75 quid pa, but as the SP energy exclusive is a variable, I prefer a 12 month fixed with SO energy. As advertised on MSE.

My final YE bill was produced on the 18th Feb showing well over £200 in credit checking my SP account which is closed but the DD I have not cancelled it shows a balance of nil so still waiting for my credit to be refunded to me
Anyone know how long it takes for SP to refund the credit balance0 -
When it was last asked, the consensus was about 2 weeks. Mine was 2 weeks exactly.BedrockFred said:My final YE bill was produced on the 18th Feb showing well over £200 in credit checking my SP account which is closed but the DD I have not cancelled it shows a balance of nil so still waiting for my credit to be refunded to me

Same for me (I think from memory I was in the same billing batch as @masonic)masonic said:

My account was still active at the time though, not sure what happens if the SP account is already closed.0 -
Re: account is already closed, I'm sure someone mentioned their account miraculously reopened upon receiving the credit.

Just tried phoning SP strangely I got connected to sales who answered the call immediately, but then transferred me to the special YE service (so he said!!) was on hold for 10 mins then got cut off, phoned in again and got asked if I would like a call back and I would not lose my place in the queue, entered my details they confirmed them and promptly said I could expect a call in OVER THREE HOURS!!
When can I put in an official complaint it's a disgrace that OFGEM keep using SP when they can't handle the customers they have got in a timely manor...0 -
Yes it does (well mine did anyway). As I had cancelled DD I'm waiting for a cheque. My SP account showed the YE credit on 18 Feb but no sign of a cheque yet (account balance is still showing the same on SP account). They do say this in their FAQs about final balance refunds (not specific to YE though) so fingers crossed the cheque might be issued end of the week.masonic said:Re: account is already closed, I'm sure someone mentioned their account miraculously reopened upon receiving the credit.
"We’ll refund you within 14 days either directly into your bank account if you pay by Direct Debit, or we’ll send you a cheque if you don’t. If you’ve cancelled your Direct Debit we’ll send you a cheque within 3 weeks."

So where do we stand with the Overcharging refunds announced today by OFGEM, in respect of 18 suppliers? I don’t know who the 18 are, but I do know that one of them is, of course, Scottish Power. Unlikely that YE was one, but how do we get an SP refund if we have left/in the process of leaving, for the period we were/are with them? Anyone know if the overcharging related to a period in the past, or is still ongoing?0
