Someone mentioned 'foreign' sounding helpdesk staff a number of posts back. I've emailed and web chatted with SP, in a desperate attempt to get my DD up and running. IT'S A WASTE OF TIME. They already have my bank details. My bank Nationwide, already has a DD steup in SP's name, it's been there for over a month now. But NOT setup on my SP account. This is the RUBBISH response I just received from the ever so helpful, but otherwise USELESS -- Subhankar Barua, Customer Services Representative -- as a reply to me email to them.

    Dear .............

I was sure there were several warnings, do not use webchat (or waste time emailing) use the 0800 phone numbers. The special helpline 0800 559 3309 or the main number 0800 027 0072

I can ill afford to lose the credit that was built up with YE.
Do I have to stick it out with SP until the credit comes through or can I move before and still get the refund at a later date?
I could go into a fixed deal with SP I suppose but I'd rather be able to play the whole market.
As bagand96 has said you won't lose any credit. It is guaranteed by OFGEM. You can initiate a move now if you want (as long a SP are showing on the national databases as your supplier - if they weren't you'd have grounds for a formal complaint at this stage).
Have you logged into your YE account to see if they have produced your final bill? If so, once details have been passed to SP, SP then have to process it all - that's the bit for which we have no idea how long SP will take, they don't exactly seem to be super-efficient!
Make sure you have downloaded copies of all your YE bills especially the final one when produced, just in case, but there ought not to be a problem.

What I can't understand is my YE account was update on the 3rd Feb showing my credit balance but no final bill/credit bill was sent to me I have asked that question to YE but thus far just received their standard reply

""We are currently processing final bills in batches , I appreciate this is not an ideal situation for you. It is not a situation we want to be in either, I can assure you,  the moment yours is done you will receive an email and that information will be forwarded to Scottish Power who will refund whatever you are owed. For more info go to https://www.scottishpower.co.uk/solr/yorkshire-energy""

If the account was updated on the 3rd Feb shouldn't the final bill/credit also been have been produced

SP generated my final bill yesterday, it was wrong. Like others have seen, "actual" readings appear to have been used, when I have photographic evidence of lower readings on a later date. Very dodgy.

The starting electricity reading is too high, but I'm leaving that until I see what YE use as their final reading, as it could be in my favour. My YE account is still showing my healthy £258 credit, no sign of any final bill yet.

SP used my final electricity reading taken on 23/01, but then used an estimated one for 1 day, 24/01, for some reason that equated to 1 week of my typical usage.

Anyway, I contacted SP by chat and got them to correct the final electricity reading and they have produced a new bill this morning which appears correct.

I didn't take photos of readings until I started to follow this thread, will will do from now on.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

My final bill from Scottish Power arrived overnight.

Happy to say it is correct to the penny of what I'd calculated.  They used the actual opening readings I'd given on 6th December, and the actual closing ones I gave them and my new supplier on switch away.

I haven't been in touch with them at any point.  I didn't chase up the fact gas readings never showed in my account, and didn't give them any additional readings.  Just let their slow systems do their own thing in their own time and it seems to have worked out in my case.

SP say it will all come out in the wash but my concern is that they are stalling to stop me moving to a cheaper, fixed rate deal before the price cap goes up.

You can arrange to leave as soon as the electricity and gas database show that you are with Scottish Power, which for me was a month ago.

For gas it's easy as there is one database.
    https://www.findmysupplier.energy/

For electricity you need to find your operator
    https://www.energynetworks.org/operating-the-networks/whos-my-network-operator
and then from there find how to check their database

    For example:
    https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/internet/en/help-and-advice/who-is-my-supplier/
    https://www.northernpowergrid.com/services-directory/who-is-my-electricity-supplier

I've not had a final bill from ye or sp yet, even though I switched again over two weeks ago. Fortunately I had very little credit with ye and sp haven't taken a dd yet.
  • One last question from me just in case anyone knows.  I have both my YE and SP final bills.  £86 credit from YE and £120 bill from SP.  From what I read above the YE credit could take a long time to be applied to my SP account.  But I don't want the hassle of paying SP the full amount then having to chase them to get the credit back - and I don't see why I should effectively loan them £86 because the system is crap.  So do you reckon I would be OK just to pay SP the £34 balance?

Am I the first to have the YE credit added to my SP account?
Finally my YE credit shows on my SP account.
Several more phone calls, one with an intelligent and VERY helpful young man, followed by an equally helpful and friendly lady -- WHO CALLED ME -- out of the blue early last evening, has resulted in my SP DD being set up correctly and showing on my account, the original quarterly cash bill they sent me being cancelled, and my YE credit being added to my SP account.
    Amazing.
I'll let the dust settle for a few days, and then see about switching I think.
  • No sign of my YE credit but following from previous delay in the electricity opening read being added, just put another in and my electricity usage is through the roof.

Hope to god YE get the correct final figure from SP

If you'd been following this thread, you'd have seen that the readings provided to SP in response to their e-mail on 7 Dec did briefly show in your YE account, if only for a day or two before they were removed. Mine along with many others on here were correct, so if you replied to SP's initial request for readings then there's no reason to doubt that YE will use the correct final read :)
