  • Another update. In the last one I said about SP's systems working slowly sending emails (somewhat behind what's actually happened) well today I didn't get one, BUT in the Post :o I got a "statement" which was in fact nothing more than the bill to the 25th (last meter reading I'd given) and it said my regular DD would be collected on the 7th (the same as my online account gave a few days ago).
In the online account, that's now updated today with the "Final Bill" (but not including any YE credit yet!) so increasing the account balance owing where it says it'll collect this "final payment" on the 16th, after which "We'll close your account after we collect your final payment". So we wait to see what happens on the 7th, will the "balance" be updated to reflect that payment on the 7th (if it happens) before the 16th, and/or even if the YE credit gets added by then :p
    .....................................
Curious that Scottish Power will be sending cheques to us all even though this at odds with what they have stated.
    SP said (main website):
If you are owed money because your Yorkshire Energy account was in credit, please don’t worry. Once we receive your meter readings, we’ll work closely with Yorkshire Energy to ensure your account with them is closed down properly and any remaining credit balance is added to your new ScottishPower account or issued to you by cheque.

Sending a cheque is completely mad and a waste of resources including the costs involved, just like the "posted statement" I've just had, when it could be credited to the account and/or paid back by direct bank transfer if the account is "closed" (never mind the hassle of having to go and pay the cheque in!).

  • Well, at least SP are consistently inconsistent. It seems like no two customers have ever been treated the same.  :|
  • Are Yorkshire Energy still contactable, re being supplied with a final account?

Yes says on my SP account latest bill 2nd Feb click to view it says
You don't have a bill yet!

There hasn’t been a bill generated for your account yet - check back later

I had that yesterday but the PDF bill was there this morning.  They have used my final readings I submitted (both to them and new supplier) but the total over the whole period is not right...however, as it's well in my favour, I'm keeping quiet as, given their prowess shown so far, hopefully that'll be it 😀.  They say they'll take the final payment through the DD later this month but I might just pay it off now and hopefully they'll then close the account straightaway and that'll be the end of it with them.

I refer you to the post I made yesterday (previous page)

"The email I had in response to a question I sent re final bills (direct to the YE email address) was answered quite promptly (better than when they were solvent).  How efficiently SP handles them will be interesting ....."

    YE said:

They are being sent in batches, so eventually you will get yours soon. The first batch was mainly for those customer who left before we went into administration.

  • I came across this analysis that I did on 14th Dec, comparing the SP tariff offered with the YE one. I presume the SP charges have not changed since then. Does this tie in with other posters' calculations?

The GAS standing charge will cost £85 per annum, compared to the £36 I was paying. (23.88p per day versus 9.746p per day).
The ELECTRICITY standing charge will cost £85 per annum, compared to the £69 I was paying. (23.88p per day versus 18.976p per day)
The GAS unit cost is 2.674p per kwh, compared to the 2.478p per kwh I was paying, which is 8% more expensive.
The ELECTRICITY unit cost is 15.484p per kwh, compared to the 12.383p per kwh, which is 25% more expensive.
    All figures are VAT inclusive.

This morning nothing has changed on my account at SP

But it does look like YE have completed their final bill as it now says on my YE account

    03/02/2021
    Credit note
    -£48.26
    -
    £262.88 CR
Just need SP to get the final bill to and pay me credit, I say "just" no doubt SP will drag their feet so I expect I will be finally finished with SP sometime late March or April fingers crossed
Even if SP were competitive I would not stay their support is non existent, earlier when all this started I spoke to a rep who was very good but nothing has happened like she said it would so maybe not as good as I thought.....

Bit hard to say as there were several different YE tariffs and the SP tariffs we were put on vary by region.  However, that said mine would have increased by roughly 18% in total (Gas, Elec and SCs) on an annualised basis so probably in the same ball park as your increase.

Email sent to help@ye.co.uk Thurs 4/2, so I'll see what transpires.
  • YE replied within 15 minutes, and indicated that they are in the midst of producing 74000 final accounts. Meanwhile, they are using different figures to SP for mine. Super.  :(
As someone remarked above, what cost can you put on the time spent sorting this out? And who do you charge it to?
