  • No heard a thing from YE or SP regarding my YE credit balance
Checked my YE account online and it's been updated to
    03/02/2021
    Credit note

    £262.88 CR
So will SP take my final bill from that or will they send a cheque or pay it by DD
My DD is still active to SP but thus far nothing taken
I know my circumstances will be different to yours as I haven't yet switched away from SP, but....I had an email from YE to say that my final bill had been produced & I could logon to my account & download it , which I did. I was only £15-ish in credit as YE were very good in calculating my monthly DD costs (unlike every other supplier I've been with) and they say this will be credited to my SP invoice. I see no reason to doubt this. Just waiting for SP to take my first DD and then I'll enter my latest meter readings to see if it generates an initial bill. (My start M/Rs are accurately set up).
The email I had in response to a question I sent re final bills (direct to the YE email address) was answered quite promptly (better than when they were solvent).  How efficiently SP handles them will be interesting .....

    YE said:

They are being sent in batches, so eventually you will get yours soon. The first batch was mainly for those customer who left before we went into administration.

  • SP have made mention of waiting for a Welcome Pack. Has anyone else been told this, or actually received one? Is it digital or hard copy? I still haven't received anything. Any idea on what basis they are dealing with YE closing and SP opening - alphabetical, geographical? I returned all my info to them asap, yet nothing.

I've checked the databases, and I'm definitely SP for both atm. My opening elec balance has just appeared on my SP account, despite the fact that only a couple of days ago, there was gas on the account, but no elec. Gas was in front, but is now behind! My DD is supposedly being taken on the 7th.

Digital by email.  I'm not sure it actually contained the words "Welcome Pack" at all, but there was an email titled "Your Scottish Power Tariff Information" that contained an account number,  the details of the Energy Exclusive tariff, DD amount and date, and inviting you to set up the online SP account.  That is essentially a Welcome Pack, it contains all the necessary information.  Mine came on 19/01/2021.  It also advised at the bottom that you are free to switch to another supplier.

My experience as well except that mine came on 22nd January - 9 days after I applied to switch to Avro.  This what it stated at the bottom

    And finally...

We're delighted to have you as a customer. You are free to switch to another supplier however we certainly hope you decide to stay with us.

It depends on who you speak to, they are bound to say that as they want to keep you as long as possible. If you wait for all that, you'll be waiting ages. If you don't want to stay with SP, start your switch. Your account will catch up with everything at whatever speed SP's wheels are grinding at the time!

Edit: I started my switch on the 8th Jan. The only emails I'd had at that point was the original Dec.7th please provide meter reading and DD details (and a reminder), then a month later 7th Jan. Thank you for your details, your switch from YE to SP is under way.
The next was 9th Jan. to complete registering the SP online account which I'd been setting up having obtained by account number by other methods, then the 11th Jan. Important Information about leaving SP, We are sorry to see you go.
After that the 22nd Jan. was the "Your ScottishPower Tariff Information" so say welcome email that ended "you are free to switch ......."
Edit2: Just to complete the picture upto yesterday's update, the 25th was "An important update ......" "Your final bill from YE" ..... basically saying nothing other than it's all under way! then on the 28th "
Your ScottishPower energy account is all set" "Welcome to online energy......"
My switch had been underway since the 8th and I started with my new supplier on the 29th.
Other details are in some of my other posts in this long thread.

Like a few others, for the last couple of weeks my SP account lists nothing but meter readings that are the last readings I provided to YE on the 1st.

I submitted readings to SP on the 6th and luckily have them noted in a spreadsheet but logging in today I noticed the electricity reading changed to one I hadn't submitted (even though it was "Actual" and dated 30/12/2020.

    Anyone else?

I received my "Welcome Pack" email on the 19th. Didn't realise it said in there that I was free to initiate a switch from then.

What is it with these energy companies? Outfox want my meter readings. Gas, fair enough no problem, Electricity there are two boxes both titled New Read, with no indication about which of the two Economy 7 readings goes in which. This was exactly the same issue I had with SP who managed to transpose them. Eventually they were corrected at the second attempt. Now I'm concerned I'll get charged some whacky last bill if Outfox send transposed figures to SP.  You'd think that Economy 7 was some strange concept, not something that's been around for decades.
I've sent a query to Outfox with pictures and an explanation of the readings.
This problem seems to occur frequently amongst energy companies, when instead of clearly marking reading input boxes day / night, they're sometimes referred to as e.g. Reading 01 / Reading 02, Register 1 / Register 2. This terminology is meaningless to the average consumer and speaking from experience, energy companies' customer services sometimes contradict themselves when asked for an explanation.

Like you, I had my day / night readings transposed by SP, when switching from EDF, back in 2011. I could write a book on the subsequent problems, including SP notifying EDF of incorrect closing readings (leading to EDF demanding money), examples of issuing bills based on fictitious readings, unanswered complaints to SP's Director of Customer Services and so on. All in all, including an Ombudsman case, the mess took over a year to sort out. Of course, the poor consumer doesn't get paid for all the hours spent fighting these witless organisations.

I wasn't too pleased to find myself back in the hands of this despicable company, so am delighted to see "switch complete" on my account today and my new supplier (Bulb) already on WPD's records. Now there's a new problem to contend with: I can't access my Bulb account nor enter opening meter readings, because I haven't been issued with a password. Is it a case of "out of the frying pan…?"

Sorry, have only just seen this reply. With regards the Day/Night 01/02 issue, with Outfox there was absolutely nothing, zilch, nada to differentiate the two readings. Just two input boxes both labelled New Read.  I sent them a chat message on Thursday that wasn't answered until Monday and I've only found this evening. On Saturday I input the readings, taking a stab at the top box being day rate and the second rate being night rate.  The response I received, sent Monday, confirmed they had set up my account with 02 as day and 01 as night, however on checking the account, they have transposed the readings.......... It would appear they are as inept as SP.  I fear another issue with the Ombudsman and SP coming on.  Curiously I have also had a message from The Resolver saying there is a new email, I haven't yet logged in to check what that may be. Wasn't expecting anything as the issue was sorted 18 months ago (and I ended up paying SP about a £10 of electricity that I had already paid my previous supplier for, but I was losing the will to live and it would have affected my credit score).
