"Why should any other energy supplier be forced to take on a failed competitor's customers at the failed competitor's rates?"
Forgive me but can't see anywhere I said that!!0 -
Fair comment, a slight mis-interpretation on my part. But the point is as valid, Ofgem dictating the tariff would be problematic too.BedrockFred said:"Why should any other energy supplier be forced to take on a failed competitor's customers at the failed competitor's rates?"

I guess I'm coming at this from a different angle then a lot of others. But I paid very cheap rates with YE, accepting that it might not be forever (I was with Tonik but got out in time when the writing was on the wall). Nobody owes me anything. I'll take the SP deemed tariff until such a time I can switch away. If I wanted hassle free or security, there's bigger suppliers, but I'd have paid more. It's buyer beware.0 -
I'm in credit with YO to a value around 4 times the November Bill. Would the be any problematic consequences if I cancelled the Direct Debit before it goes out next week?Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅🏅⭐️, DD1: 🏅 and one for Mum: 🏅0

I feel it would be helpful to maintain the competitor's rates, in order to give people time to budget and change supplier, so for a limited period only. Equally, I know it's not going to happen!bagand96 said:BedrockFred said:"Why should any other energy supplier be forced to take on a failed competitor's customers at the failed competitor's rates?"Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅🏅⭐️, DD1: 🏅 and one for Mum: 🏅0 -
I agree, They should roll it over for say 1 month, to give people time to decide on whether they want to go with SP or another supplier and give enough time to change away.YBR said:

I know people have posted links to info about this happening. But, I have had no contact from anybody to advise me of this change. If I hadn't stumbled across this on here when looking for something else I would be none the wiser. When I give my meter readings the page I go directly to is my login page, which says nothing about this.0 -
That's exactly what I have done, being well over £200 in creditYBR said:I'm in credit with YO to a value around 4 times the November Bill. Would the be any problematic consequences if I cancelled the Direct Debit before it goes out next week?0 -

Normal monthly Direct Debit payments to Yorkshire Energy should now cease. However, you’ll soon receive a final bill from them which may trigger a final Direct Debit payment. To help make this process as smooth as possible, we recommend you don’t cancel your Direct Debit with Yorkshire Energy until your final bill has been paid.Presumably any money you owe would be taken from your credit balance.0 -
I had an updated statement when I entered my meter readings last night

In relation to cancelling DD. I cancelled mine with Tonik when they went bust and had no problems. I didn't trust what SP said about DD's. I had credit on my Tonik account and they used some of it to cover cost between final DD and switch. The remaining credit was transferred to SP and will be refunded soon.1

Are you still with SP?Malchester said:In relation to cancelling DD. I cancelled mine with Tonik when they went bust and had no problems. I didn't trust what SP said about DD's. How long did your account with SP take to appear on their site0
