  • Only just found out, about this.
first time this has happened to me, really bad that I was not informed.
will be stopping my direct debit, had enough to cover me in the account.
obviously SP does not get good reviews and I take it, that I can switch supplier, now the contract has been broken?
Always been happy with YE and bit sad to see them go.

I have about £84 credit but have lowered my DD to £25 a month so will see what SP are offering and if I make a switch will not owe or be in credit much..

    Just seen about this.
As a previous Breeze customer who went SoLR to British Gas, another December of fun with energy suppliers. It took me until Feb to truly get free of British Gas. I am suspecting a similar timeline now.
Tariff prices and accounts take an age to sort unless Scottish Power are quicker.
My parents are also with YE, this takes them back to their original supplier oh the irony.
I suggest people ensure their accounts are in credit in some form, submit meter readings even today so there is an official record of your meters at X date.
Direct Debit and my bill went out today, which is cheeky of them considering they are not trading officially.
I wish I went with Avro now back earlier in the year, will take a look at their rates soon.

geting a bit fed up with comparison sites and supplier's sites, most of the time there's no collation between them.... I know some tariffs are comparison-site exclusives, but how does that work when it's a supplier you can't switch to through the comparison site???

I blame Scottish Power, if the SoLR was half-decent I wouldn't be looking so hard to get away from them  :D
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

I suspect the direct debit has to be requested through the banking system two or three working days before the actual due date, which would be the explanation however annoying it must be for you. My DD date is the 11th, and I'm assuming they won't take it, although I do owe them about £45 based on the routine monthly readings I submitted yesterday.
  • I only found out because of the MSE articles that appear at the bottom of pages in a list. Find it amazing there’s been no email, but then as others have said this hasn’t happened to me before. All my most reasonable suppliers have dire reviews...Don’t want British Gas nor Scottish Power and do want Green Electricity so may have to rule out avro 😕 Nothing comes close to the YE tariff...guess that’s one of the reasons they have wound up. I was on the Whitby tariff and remember saying when I signed up, this is really cheap, hope we don’t end up having problems 🤣

Agree with all you have written.  It's like looking for a needle in a haystack finding anything comparable to the Green Tarriff I was on with YE.  British Gas is the front runner for me at the moment (Online V7 fixed til January 2022) although I am just about to look at something called  Neon Reef (electricity only) who are slightly cheaper and  get good reviews.  Someone earlier suggested that sometimes, just sometimes a better deal is achieved by using 2 suppliers instead of one.  Time will tell.

Just get in touch with your bank and ask for the money back under the direct debit guarantee scheme telling them the company has gone bust.

I think you'll find it's a lot of the time!  But use a decent comparison site, not CEC.
  • Being an SoLR virgin I (probably naively) thought that I would be able to ring SP today, get my account details and tariff they have forced us all onto,  get onto the comparison sites and make my switch if deemed necessary.  Well, I at least managed to get through, but was told that no tariff costs or account details are available and they would be sent out via post/email in the near future with no commitment of time..

The legalities of this that I find hard to get my head round is that they can be charging me for a few weeks of energy in the months I am using the most energy without me having any rights to know how much I am being charged, wow...
