Looks like people who have already left YE and are waiting for a return of credit will get a cheque from SP. I wonder how long that will be "in the post"?

I can’t recall the specifics but I do seem to remember post’s from FM’s who were already in the process of ‘switching’ when their incumbent supplier went bust.
They ended up in a sort of limbo-land between the defunct companies Receivers, the SoLR and the new energy company they were moving to. Getting their credit refunded became problematic.
However, I’ve no idea how common such problems actually are.

For those worried about SP service, here is my experience. I was a customer about 6 or 7 years ago when service was really bad and voted with my feet. I returned a couple of years ago when BG's stunning Cheap Energy Club deal finished and SP had a good deal and service seemed to have improved by all reports. I had absolutely no problem with them from switch in to switch out a year later to YE, so as for dual fuel my price looks like being pretty close to my YE price.0

If SP are sooo bad why on earth do Ofgem, who are investigating SP at present, continue to transfer accounts to them!! I can't wait to leave SP but since the transfer is 'in limbo' I guess that's not an option atmAre SP signed up to the 'Energy Switch Guarantee'??0

There's plenty of information out there on the relevant websites for those affected:
- YE domestic customers will be moved to a new tariff "Energy Exclusive Tariff". Ofgem describe this as a "competitive tariff". Scottish Power describe it as "some of our most competitive prices"
- Customers who have credit on their YE energy account will have the credit moved over to their Scottish Power Account
- Ofgem's advice is not to start a switch now
- Customers who have already switched away from YE or have a switch in progress will have their credit balance refunded by SP in due course, by cheque.

It's obvious the new tariff won't be at the same rates as YE. Whilst we all will have enjoyed YE's cheap energy prices, keep in mind they've gone bust! The cheap prices we enjoyed were not sustainable. It's also easy to be frustrated with SP, or for Ofgem for appointing them, but the SoLR process is a competitive tender, so it requires two things:
1) Company's willing to take on YE's customer base
2) Ofgem brokering the best deal for the transferring customers and the industry
Whether we like it or not SP were successful, they offered the best deal. For all we know they may have been the only provider who could be bothered. I view it that i might have to pay more for my energy for a month or two before switching again. It's just a risk of using the bargain basement providers like YE, who's prices were ultimately too cheap.2 -
This is not a new thing. With all that have gone out of business, over the past few years, you would think they would know what they are doing. Yes, it is a gamble you take when you go with a smaller supplier - this is my first experience of SOLR, but it is not the industry's.
When all OFGEM can say is "we advise", it does not bode well.

It will be interesting to see how SP’s newly created ‘Energy Exclusive tariff’ for YE refugees actually pans out.
SP say it’s competitive,...but I don’t think they’ve published the tariff prices yet!

My bill isn't due till January with YE but I have inputted todays meter readings into the YE website. As no bill due so no bill generated though the meter reading page has been updated and shows my readings and todays date of 6th December is shown. Don't know if it helps in anyway as this date is the takeover date of Scottish Power and this gives a bit more info power to this switchover.
Have Tariff crunched on SP website and their cheapest tariff shows as 1 Year Fixed Price Energy till January 2022.
Gas 2.83 KWH, S/C 19.17 per day. Electric 15.38 KWH S/C 19.17 per day. On my figures this equates to £1597.38 and that is a increase of just over £280 for the year.
On CAB there is an exclusive SP Tariff not shown on SPs website called Super Saver December 2021 B2.
Gas 2.537 KWH, S/C 16.31 per day. Electric 14.556 KWH, S/C 16.31 per day. On my figures this equates to £1470.65 and that equates to an increase of just over £152 for the year.
keithgawler I don't know what figures you have used but I certainly can't say that YE and SP Tariffs are similar in my situation. The above figures are properly costed out for myself and for certain I will be switching away from SP as soon as my account is fully opened with SP.
