!!!!!!! My worst fears confirmed. Scottish Power is the SoLR. Why Ofgem repeatedly choose SP is beyond me; they can't deal efficiently with their own customer base, let alone sort out the accounts from other suppliers.
It's probably because SP are the only ones that show any interest in being the SoLR.
  • I definitely won't be joining them.  Nuf said!!

PFP is cheapest for me too, but they want a month up front, like YE did, and until I get my refund from them I don't know if I can find it straight away. The good news is Scottish Power's cheapest tariff is 'only' 140 more than PFP, and can be offset by the warm home discount if I stayed with them until March when it gets paid. Their wider criteria allows any household member to be on universal credit, not just the people paying the bill like with some companies. I'd have to get smart meters though.

I'll miss the simplicity of being with YE and getting good service, it's not just about them being the cheapest.

Despite what I've said about SP's customer service, having recently retired from the metering sector, the smart meters that SP use are some of the better ones, IMO.

So, I cannot do anything until I get confirmation that SP have set up my account, yet I know their prices are much higher than I am was currently paying.
An email off someone would be nice.
  • Pennineacute - don't expect anything like communication from SP. having experienced switch from Tonik their customer services are the lowest of the low. Don't envy you!!!!

I think Ofgem expects us to by psychic,
  • Ofgem do actually say on their tweets that they recommend waiting but there is nothing to stop people switching before 28 days
  • Just who I didn't want. It was only by chance that I came across this on here when looking for something else. Otherwise zero communication.

This is all new to me
So anyone been through this and switched before the SP account is set up. I really don't want to be with SP I was with them many years ago and they were a nightmare, I have over £200 in credit I expect several Yorkshire energy customers are in credit that's been built up over the summer certainly don't want to lose that but can wait a while for it if I have to.
