Computer permanently hooked onto Ofgem Press release page - but I thought when the date of announcing the SoLR was a Saturday, I had my doubts - Maybe we'll get it on Monday

SoLR is Scottish Power.  Switch over to Scottish Power is on Sunday 6 December 2020.

:D:D:D  - this will be entertaining.

It shouldn't be as bad a Tonik as the data is in a much better shape.

Still, good luck to everyone involved.

!!!!!!! My worst fears confirmed. Scottish Power is the SoLR. Why Ofgem repeatedly choose SP is beyond me; they can't deal efficiently with their own customer base, let alone sort out the accounts from other suppliers.

My oldest will be miffed, as am I - he bought his first place last year and I had a hell of a job dealing with and switching him away from SP to YE....I warned him about the SoLR process happening, and I'm going to have to hold his hand through all this until we both get switched away from SP (again in his case)..

edit - just looked, they'll owe me £240-odd up to today's meter readings, and SP's cheapest tariff is a smart meter only AND £120 more expensive than PFP...they better get their skates on to enable the switch away...

I went through this at the beginning of the year when breeze went Down.
And They passed it on to British Gas and they were terrible at handling the new customers.
Not sure if i should switch today before SP takes over as people doing this before with breeze seemed to have a better experience by not waiting?

OFGEM advice is to sit tight until the data has been passed to SP and the accounts sorted out, especially if you're in credit.....

  • Having never been through this before how long are we expected to wait before we can switch away, and what tariff are we put on
I have over £200 credit at YE how long do we wait to get that back

How long's a piece of string?

On the plus side YE are quite efficient and your account should be in good order at handover. On the other hand Scottish power are not renowned for the quality of their customer service. If I were you, I'd switch as as soon as you get notification the SP are your supplier, make sure you take meter reading, preferably backed up with date-stamped photos and hope for the best.

I'm in the happier position of having already switched from YE and only have to await SP returning my credit. In the unlikely event I get it before Christmas I'll donate it to charity!
  • Thanks for that, now to trawl through looking for a good deal
