    ...surely not......
    .....again.........
They had better not, or my follow-up to my existing formal complaint to OFGEM will be extra scathing.

It will depend on what offers they get from industry.  Unfortunately we won't be privy to the details of them, but what if Scottish Power's bid is the one that delivers the cheapest tariff for customers?  For all we know, that could have been the case with the YE SoLR?

It would be interesting to see the details of the process though, please keep us updated on your complaint.  I guess they would hide behind "commercial sensitivities" in the event of a FOI?

I'm now with Green Energy. If they fail I will either stay with the SOLR or move to a big-name supplier. Once is enough!
  • Still the national dB says SP as my gas supplier........

It seems every time wholesale prices spike a few suppliers are taken out. It's almost as if offering a fixed price to customers and then buying their energy at a variable price is risky.

Just had an email from SP asking for my final meter readings I have given them to SP and YE
    Email said

We're sorry to see you go Paul

    Your switch is underway

    Track your switch

We're really sorry you've decided to leave us Paul

    Your switch is now complete.

    Enter final meter readings

There's just a few more steps before we close your account and say goodbye.

We now need you to give us your final change of supplier reading. This reading should be the same one that you gave to your new energy supplier to set up your new account. As soon as you give us your meter reading we'll use it to close your ScottishPower account and create your final bill.

There's no need to call us with your readings. We'll use the readings you provide or if you aren't able to provide them we'll wait for your new supplier to provide them to us before creating your bill. This can take up to six weeks.

Thanks for being with us and we hope we can welcome you back again.

Clicking on enter meter readings and typing in my post code I get:

    Account Number - 16xxxxxxxxxx

    Your postcode
    check_circle
    Continue
    error
[SAP Error(Z_RCC_FETCH_METER_READ_DETAILS): Not able to retrieve Meter Info.]

Hmm, they shouldn't be asking for final readings. The correct process is to provide them to your new supplier --> new supplier validates them through the national database --> validated final readings are sent to new provider to be used for final bill.
The problem with working from unvalidated readings is that sometimes the meter reading falls outside the expected range, and in this case the meter validation company will provide an alternative final reading both suppliers should use. If the old supplier uses the unvalidated reading and the new supplier uses the alternative reading you can end up with bills that charge you for the same energy twice. See https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360018799871-How-do-meter-validation-companies-approve-my-meter-readings-
I will not be providing SP with my unvalidated final readings.

    Your fuel switch status

Here you'll find the status of your fuel(s) switching over. You'll be able to see your confirmed switch dates once we have them, and your final bills once they're ready.

    Electricity

    Gas

Supply end date: 25 Jan 2021

Please don’t cancel your Direct Debit when your switch starts - we’ll be able to give you any refund or collect a final payment quicker this way.

    Lucky you. I have

    Electricity

Supply end date: 25 Jan 2021

While my Gas doesn't even show that the switch has started.
    Mines the other way round.

Just tried to do the daily log-in to my YE account to check for any progress. The following message appeared:-
"We couldn't find an account that matches those details, have you registered your account yet?"

Thinking about it ...Given that others seem to have managed to get away quick when they initiated their switch from YE as soon as it was announced they were ceasing trading I wonder if it's worth starting a switch back to SP on their 2022 super saver fix today and taking advantage of the £50 credit offer to switch back they sent me the other day (or even somebody's £100 referral..although I suspect that's disallowed as being with them, albeit forced, within last year).
