I have a slight, notice I said slight, sympathy for SP...
"Scottish Power was appointed following a competitive process to get the best deal possible for customers. Scottish Power is offering customers a competitive tariff. "
I've just since received (the expected) bull reply from OFGEM about their procedures, where they haven't even acknowledged that there could be a deficiency in such procedures, which I shall now pursue further. However from what they did tell me, it's obvious that YE/their Administrators efficiently provided SP with the relevant customer information for SP to have sent out emails on the 7th December.

Mine electric is showing Avro Gas still says SP but I have had confirmation from both SP and Avro that it is Avro supplying both Gas and Elec0 -
Another email from SP, this time finally claiming that my account has been created. This is curious as Network Power shows my supplier has been switched, as requested and via the MSE Club, to EDF - and, indeed, MSE has already paid my cashback. However, EDF has yet to contact me and SP, when logged in, shows my account 'has an error'.
It's hard not to conclude that the entire system is a mess and that, ultimately, it is the regulator (ie the government) that is to blame for this shambles.

I wilted today and rang SP to enquire as to the reason why electricity meter details not showing on my (as yet incomplete) account. The fact that all my gas details are showing (with the correct opening meter read from 6th December) but nada with the electric was curious. Even more curious was the fact that SP were able to give me both the MPAN and serial number of my meter over the phone but are seemingly unable/unwilling to populate my account with them. I can totally understand that the opening read (I supplied to SP on 9th December) needs to be industry verified so that the closing from YE tallies with the opening for SP. I can even understand that this verification process for a SOLR-switch can take more time than a normal switch. But all this does (or should do) is just impact the production of the final bill (YE) and possibly the bills from Scottish since they took over. What it should not do is affect the ability of customers to move away from SP at the earliest opportunity should they wish to do so. So when the CS stated today that we are advising customers not to switch until the account has been fully set up and activated, I did point out that this could be days, weeks or even months (unless he was privy to a timetable, which he was not). As mentioned on other posts in various threads, surely this is just a smokescreen because they (SP) will not be able to generate bills until they populate accounts with opening meter reads (which most provided in response to the 7th December email). SP are in no position to refuse transfers when they are listed as the supplier on the relevant databases and the speed of their accounting progress will surely be unaffected by the fact that many have walked (or are in the process of walking).
In short, I am now just going to let things take their course. I am due to move to Avro on 3rd February. It is up to SP to sort out missing components on my account and it is up to them to bill me for my circa 2 months with them whenever they are in a position to do so. Hopefully when they do, it will coincide with my 2 months where I pay no council tax. Unless there are serious errors in their bill generation (such as using wildly incorrect reads) I won't be contacting them as it is a serious waste of time.0 -
@BedrockFred @phillw had the same issue with my switch the electricity has been updated the gas has been like a slug. But phoned both parties involved and both confirmed it was with Avro. SP consider my account closed with them on both, so that is good.
It just illustrates how shambolic all of this is, OFGEM for being useless, toothless !!!!!!. SP making the benefit from weeks and months of being snails in sorting it all out. I mean what the best part of 2 MONTHS effectively to even get an account number, tariff information says what is wrong with the process. Granted I initiated a switch to Avro, I had that information in a few hours...
Avro have been decent to me, if you phone them ignore the current warnings about emergency only the guy was massively helpful.
That being said I have to agree on the phone SP have been pretty good. But their online process/account (my account like others only shows my electricity as switching, my gas nothing despite them confirming the !!!!!! was closed as of yesterday) and prices are simply uncompetitive and their billing process if believed by the number of complaints is troublesome at best.
I am just letting Avro via the industry send mine to SP, I look forward to my final bill, then my final return amount from YE as it will definitely cover the YE bill.0 -

BUT they are now saying that if I had a credit with YE (I did - £153) this credit would be applied to my SP bill. Previously they have always stated that this would be returned to me. Not quite the same thing.DerwentMailman said:
So in my eyes SP have always been consistent although painfully slow. Whether any refunds are applied to our account before SP raises the final bill for those that are in the priocess of switching remains to be seen.

""I can confirm that we have taken over the gas and electricity
If you are struggling to submit the gas reading, I can submit this for you?
I look forward to hearing from you. ""
Must say the SP rep was very efficient and knowledgeable, she also told me that my final bill from YE would be sent this week and SP add any credit (of which there is over £200) would be added to my SP account but she was unsure whether that credit would be used to pay the SP final bill but thought it was likely
Lots of moans (from me too) about SP but maybe look at the big picture, maybe being forced to take 3 failed energy companies customers accounts in such a short time can't be easy, so far things have gone as planned I was patient and waited till my energy should it was SP supplying0 -
My issue is the amount of time it is taking with no DD coming out. At this end of the year this is very worrying, does no one from @scottishpower ever look to see what the problems might be. The prospect of over an hour on hold, when the phone disconnects after 59 minutes is a pain.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Not a problem no DD being taken I just budget for the energy I use and don't touch the amount, you know you have to pay it so put it to one side till things are sorted0 -
I have decided to stay with SP for now. Firstly there is little out there with any savings and secondly I will wait until March and
hopefully better prices. Make no mistake I have no intensions of stopping with SP.For a couple of pounds a month its just not worth the hassle.0
