Despite leaving them yesterday, SP has emailed me today to let me know about my tariff and that my transfer from YE to SP is well underway. Better late than never I suppose.
Might be an idea to be safe, ask your new supplier to put a note on your account requesting them to block any transfer to SP should one turn up in the next few weeks!
My SP online account is still showing as having left and awaiting final bill, so I doubt it is anything other than a badly timed communication. If SP do switch me back in error, then that's grounds for an automatic compensation payment. It might be worth it.
Do you really want the hassle? And see the post 2 before yours! I doubt it's SP going behind people's backs, just badly timed everything! I've got my new supplier to add a note on my account about another supplier that hasn't responded (yet, hopefully won't), I'm going to get it updated tomorrow to add SP!

I switched away from SP and set up Avro Energy as my new supplier and all was fine until I got a "sorry to see you go" email from Avro a few days. So be warned SP are going behind people's backs to switch you back to them if you try to switch away from them. I am disgusted and have been told that whether I like it or not I am a SP customer until Jan 25th!
When did you attempt to switch away?  Did you ever get a switch date from AVRO when you first initiated the switch process?

I've been sent a bill by SP, due 3rd Feb.
I'd be interested to know when were your meter details were showing the correct serial numbers/MPAN/MPRN etc on your SP account?  And when did they show the correct opening meter reads?
The correct meter numbers were there about a week ago.
The opening meter readings appeared 2 days AFTER my account stated I owed them. I'll explain:
A few days ago I logged in to find an amount due. It quoted a usage and cost but no readings. The most recent ones are quoted elsewhere on the account but no history. The only place I can see the opening readings is on the detailed pdf bill, which wasn't there when I first saw the amount due. I still have not received an email so if I hadn't been logging on frequently then I wouldn't know.

For the record, I received the tariff information on January 19th.
I've today created an account and, more out of curiosity than anything else, submitted current meter readings.

The existing meter reads didn't look right. Thank goodness I kept a record of them. Except from an email I've just sent to Scottish Power:
I have just created an online account and submitted meter readings. The account number is ****.

I noted that there was not an existing gas meter reading, and when I provided a current reading, the web UI warned that it didn't seem right and prompted me to resubmit the reading. I am a bit concerned, as neither the first reading provided to you or the last reading provided to Yorkshire Enegery appears to be on the account, that we are going to receive a considerably large gas bill?

I also noted that the existing electricity meter reading displayed on the account was not the one I provided to you on 2020-12-09, but the reading provided to Yorkshire Energy on 2020-12-04 before Yorkshire Energy ceased trading. Does that mean I'm going to pay for electricity used between 2020-12-04 and 2020-12-09 are the higher rates chargeable under your 'Energy Exclusive' tariff?

Edit: Forgot to add, direct debit payment has increased from £86.38 with YE to £100.00 with SP

Edit2: Auto responder response received with - 'Re: EXTERNAL: Spam: ' prepended to the subject line and not by my mailserver.
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?

The amount of hassle is the same whether I pro-actively warn my new supplier of a possible erroneous transfer, or inform them if an actual erroneous transfer is started. The latter option comes with the potential of a £60 compensation payment if the two suppliers fail to stop the transfer, or fail to inform me of it. Either way, SP do not gain any entitlement to bill me for any more energy, and I end up with my new supplier. So it seems worth it.
More information is needed on the earlier post about a purported erroneous transfer back to SP. But if this really was a transfer to Avro after SP gained the poster's supply, and not one started before SP were able to claim the supply, then SP are going to be having complaints coming out of their ears.

We all have the risk of funny bills to look forward to. SP will not be entitled to bill me for energy used while they are listed as my supplier due to an erroneous switch.
When weighing these things up, I like to look at the potential hourly rate. It takes less than 5 minutes to knock out a message to my existing provider to confirm I did not consent to the switch. It takes 5-10 minutes to outline a formal complaint. It takes another 5-10 minutes to fill out the form at the Energy Ombudsman website should the matter not be completely resolved to my satisfaction within 8 weeks. I don't believe any of that will be necessary, but if it is, at each stage further compensation would accrue, and my day job doesn't pay as much for 5-10 minutes of my time. One of the Tonik refugees managed to complain so effectively, SP agreed not to bill them for any energy used.
As it stands, after taking YE credit into account, I will owe SP roughly one month's DD for the energy I used while I was with them. So I am in a pretty good position to weather whatever they throw at me.

For information I use a free app called pixometer, available on iOS and Android. I use it to read my meters. It takes a photo and records the reading. It is all stored in the cloud so if you upgrade your phone you lose nothing. I have readings with photos going back to 2017.

Start meter reads - where do you see them?  Is it not until you get a bill? Logged on yesterday and provided current readings. Guess first bill is around DD time - 8th of the month.
