I've been sent a bill by SP, due 3rd Feb. As I'm switching on 2nd Feb and have more than enough credit from YE to cover the bill, do you think it would cause problems to not pay at this time?
Should I tell SP that's my plan?
I'm on the non-DD tariff despite being told on the phone that it didn't matter not setting one up immediately and could add those details when the account had been set up. I'm planning to complain about that, among other things but want to switch first.Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅🏅⭐️, DD1: 🏅 and one for Mum: 🏅0 -
It is unlikely the credit will be added to your account by 3rd Feb even if we get our YE final bills next week as rumoured. Suggest you discuss with them if you don't want to make a payment. If you are disputing the bill because of the bad advice you received about setting up a DD, then that could be one way to stall payment.YBR said:I've been sent a bill by SP, due 3rd Feb. I'd be interested to know when were your meter details were showing the correct serial numbers/MPAN/MPRN etc on your SP account? And when did they show the correct opening meter reads?YBR said:I've been sent a bill by SP, due 3rd Feb.0 -
I was just thinking that it would have been prudent for Scottish Power to had one of there Social Media team, fielding queries and concerns on this forum.
Had they assigned some resource, they probably could have done some damage limitation, prevented many repetitive the calls, and quenched some of the speculation. Who know they may have even retained a few ex-YE customers, that may have been on the fence.
I'm not a fan of EON, despite now switching to them (purely cost) but at least they seem proactive in this sense. My farts hospitalize small children

Might be an idea to be safe, ask your new supplier to put a note on your account requesting them to block any transfer to SP should one turn up in the next few weeks!masonic said:Despite leaving them yesterday, SP has emailed me today to let me know about my tariff and that my transfer from YE to SP is well underway. Better late than never I suppose.

think my meter/MPANs were there a week-10 days ago, but both readings appeared yesterday, correct with 6 Dec dates.[Deleted User] said:

I've checked my bill, the opening reading on my gas account is the one I gave them on 14th December, not the one I gave them on 6th December. Hey ho, I'm not going to chase them, if I get another week at the old Yorkshire Energy rate so be it. The originally said they would take my first direct debit on 7th February, this bill says 1st February which is also the date I move to Outfox. Hopefully I'll get my YE credit balance back from somebody at some point, having paid nothing for the past 2 months.

I switched away from SP and set up Avro Energy as my new supplier and all was fine until I got a "sorry to see you go" email from Avro a few days. So be warned SP are going behind people's backs to switch you back to them if you try to switch away from them. I am disgusted and have been told that whether I like it or not I am a SP customer until Jan 25th! So much for your right to choose your supplier! Cannot believe that Ofgem has done to us 74,000 ex-YE customers what they did (and are still doing) to the 130,000 ex-customers of Tonik Energy whom SP took on only in October. Why has this been allowed when it was obvious that SP couldn't cope with all these new customer switches. We are now being forced to pay the higher prices on this SP tariff - it is outrageous, and no-one seems to be able to do anything about it - can you take up this issue please Martin Lewis?0

My SP online account is still showing as having left and awaiting final bill, so I doubt it is anything other than a badly timed communication. If SP do switch me back in error, then that's grounds for an automatic compensation payment. It might be worth it.Phones4Chris said:
