    If the price increase has taken them by surprise, wait till they hear about second class going to six working days !      I’m beginning to think I must have misunderstood the email I received as it’s not being discussed anywhere.
    Nothing is being discussed anywhere, the only mention I've seen is from people who posted things yesterday and were shocked to be 'overcharged'. There's one on one of the RM groups complaining that her Post office is scamming her as they charged her extra and everyone knows post doesn't go up until March. she wants them sacked, she's threatening them with the police and trading standards and what has made it worse is that they could offer he no leaflets or any 'proof' of these increases.

    I'm pretty sure the delivery times for standard 2nd class mail isn't changing - looking at your post on p6, "economy" appears to relate to something else (for instance https://www.royalmail.com/business/mail/business-mail)

    The increases in RM costs are just an added irritation and reading other groups and forums it seems that the price increases have taken a lot of people by surprise. I’ve not been able to get an updated booklet or anything from RM or the mail centre and just keep being told to print one off online. 
    They are sent centrally. So RM have likely decided not to bother. No real surprise though.
    What usually happens is a supply comes in, every random takes one for little reason and they are gone.

    I'm pretty sure standard 2nd class mail isn't changing - looking at your post on p6, "economy" appears to relate to something else (for instance https://www.royalmail.com/business/mail/business-mail)

    I have printed out the new PDF (parts of it anyway) as I like to see what I am doing even though my business rates are slightly different. 100g large letter up to 100g 2nd class is now 96p when it was 88p , standard 2nd class parcel up to 2KG 2nd class is now £3.20 when it was £3.10 . I just happened to have those here as they are my most standard sizes.

    The only price increase that really got a lot of publicity was 1st class standard letters as they increased from 76p to 85p

    You have misunderstood the email,it does not mention second class post in the affected categories.

    You have misunderstood the email,it does not mention second class post in the affected categories.
    I’m pleased I’ve misunderstood it .   I’m still upgrading to first class as their 2-3 working days estimate for second class is becoming increasingly unreliable

    We finally got a delivery today (Yes, Sunday!) - 17 items including a number of xmas cards/other first class mail franked the 22nd December. There will still be more (perhaps older mail) to come  - I know of some people who have sent us xmas cards which have not yet arrived.

    When at capacity (regardless of how RM have set it!) then Xmas cards will be an early casualty.
    They are slow to sort and far more likely to have missing/incorrect postcodes/addresses. 
    Rm had to shut down many letter sorting machines at Xmas to utilise the space for parcel sorting, though I could argue they didnt staff  against those parcel volumes accordingly.
