Royal Mail delivery times

In the last lockdown I had lots of late delivery defects caused by extended delivery times, but once lockdown ended, things improved. I am now getting “where is my item” messages again. eBay are forecasting 2-3 working days for second class delivery but today we received a card posted on 28th October, so that’s two weeks ! We are going days without any post, then lots arrives in one go, so I assume deliveries are being switched on and off.
Our local sorting office currently has 40 staff off either with Covid or self isolating, so if that’s reflected all round the country, Royal Mail will be really struggling.

Hopefully eBay will start automatically removing late defects again.

Have you seen the announcement from eBay that they are refunding fees for closed shops again ?
My post is still all over the place, I’m certainly not getting post every day any more, and then on occasions a little van turns up and a post person thrusts a pile of parcels at me and disappears . I’m concerned though as I haven’t seen our regular postman for a while .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I’ve seen the announcement, but I’ve decided to stay open this time. Our post today was delivered by the sorting office manager, so they are really struggling. It’s just a shame that they aren’t sharing the info as buyers understandably are getting really upset. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

I suspect it varies enormously from one area to another. I've checked the last three small parcels sent first class and all arrived the next day.

Second Class - We are seeing pockets in various parts of the UK taking around 8 days. What we haven't seen like in the first lock down is cages of mail being stacked (my theory) and mail over-taking stacked mail, and leaving mail standing, in our worst case, 30 days before arriving. Changing your dispatch time to a few days, although it can knock your business sales, it will also get rid of 90% of people who are desperate for their items, and ultimately some people will always disregard the countries circumstances and expect the impossible.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Royal Mail is def slowing down. I got a delivery slot email today. Parcel didn't show and I tracked it and it wasn't even out for delivery. However, Royal Mail delivered a parcel to me earlier in the week at 7pm, which was latest delivery time I've ever had.0

RM had staff out delivering in the evening pre covid with the LAT Tracked service.
Ive posted previously that RM are capatalising on Covid to save money/implement new processes.

We have been expecting several parcels including two tracked parcels sent by RM Tracked 48 from the same national retailer.
One of those was in the South West DC .at 04:36 on the 12th and only turned up at Jubilee MC today (yes, Sunday the 15th) just after noon and now needs to to go to the local delivery office
Tracking on the second shows it made it to the local delivery office on the 13th (via a Xmas DC) and claims it was then delivered at 18:06 on Friday (after a failed delivery attempt at 18:05) - only we don't know where it was delivered too as it wasn't here! So have asked RM where it got to and have been told to receive a response by Wednesday.
