Royal Mail delivery times

, what with poor sales on ebay generally, post being delayed , buyers continually telling me how they always get stuff from other sellers next day so can I refund them please, and the possible hike in ebay shop fees - I will really have to reconsider my selling model.
What is it with buyers who don't get that post is bad in some areas, I've had an INR opened within the optimistic ebay estimates (it wasn't even late), I have another item sold on a 3 day dispatch plus a 3 day courier that ebay estimated to arrive on day 5. Unless ebay change their estimated times to account for these new rules I can't see how we can survive.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have lost count of the number of times I have spoken with eBay about their forecast delivery dates and got absolutely nowhere. I have 19 late defects in a month, so common sense says there is a problem.
Ive decided that Buyers won’t be happy with a 6 working day delivery, so I will have to offer free first class which is going to lead to massive price increases as all my items are letters and large letters. The problem is my competitors don’t seem to be increasing their prices.
Incidentally, I had a refund Opened as someone had changed their mind. They were just going to stick a stamp on it and return but they were shocked at how much postage costs, and that’s before the increase !You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

It looks like my slow parcel will need to be refunded at the weekend as buyer has said they will be opening an INR today as they think 10 days is long enough to wait for a standard parcelI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It often amazes me how much buyers think postage actually costs and their thinking a stamp covers everything.0

Finally, eBay are responding
Dear Business Sellers,
We understand you may have experienced challenges over the peak season and we want to ensure you are supported in delivering a great experience for your buyers. Time is already added to buyer-facing delivery estimates to account for any delays that may arise as and when required, but we want to inform you of additional measures we are putting in place to ensure your performance is not affected:
- Your Late Delivery rate will be automatically adjusted. We will automatically remove Late Delivery counts and any related Negative or Neutral feedback received for transactions between 5 November to 21 November 2020.
- Your item not received count (INR) in Service Metrics and any related Negative or Neutral feedback will be automatically removed for transactions between 5 November to 21 November 2020. We will remove it on the condition that you uploaded valid tracking before the delivery was scanned.
We’ll be processing Defect removals and any related Negative or Neutral feedback as quickly as possible. Please be aware that it may be a short period of time when this information appears in your account before being removed.
At the same time we want to reassure you we will keep monitoring the situation and implement additional protection if and when it’s required.
Regards,
The eBay Team

Which is of no use at all to low value sellers who don't send tracked....

There is little mention on here of items sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery. They have changed “by 1pm” to “by 4pm” and I was told this when posting an item.
A friend mentioned that he got nowhere with a claim for late delivery, the excuse was exceptional circumstances of Christmas, covid and Black Friday...
I’ve just submitted a claim for late delivery, it wasn’t the guaranteed delivery of next day, the item arrived the day after around 12:30.
Has this sloppy service become the normal for Royal Mail Special Delivery? It isn’t the case for DHL, less than 24 hours “door to door” UK to Spain recently.0 -
