Royal Mail delivery times

I had an Amazon order that was placed on the 23rd November and apparently sent the next day which I chose to go to a collection point. 

It was sent via RM and a tracking number was provided and ever since then it was stuck on something like “dispatched to RM”. 

After so long, Amazon said it was lost and offered me a refund. 

Just today it’s updated to say it’s now at a MC.

2 Amazon items, one from Amazon and the other fulfilled by Amazon posted Wednesday.  Amazon one arrived Thursday, other still waiting.

Hi All,
It's very useful to see th epattern here and to know it's not just local to me this is happening. An item i sent on 2/12/20 arrived yesterday 12/12/20 and this was just going from one side of Greater London to another.  I purchased something from eBay last night and the estimated delivery time in the listing originally showed 18th or 19th December but after purchase that changed to 23rd!! Fortunately i don't need it for Christmas i just need it in general i'm happy to wait as long as it does arrive eventually.

I also noticed that instead of seeing the sellers name os userId as usual in Paypal, it now says a generic 'Payment made to ebay.co.uk' so i'm wondering if that's how the new managed payment system for sellers appears to buyers when using paypal? It will become very confusing for buyers if  trying to chase up any problem items or keeping track on Paypal purchases from eBay.
Sorry for mixing issues her but the payment thing just occurred to me!

Which likely means it wasnt despatched and was at pre advice. MC scan would be the first scan at the receiving MC.
Unlikely a tracked item has sat at that MC for 3 weeks

Yeah agreed. What do I do if RM deliver it to collection point? Will keep an eye on the tracking however Amazon have already refunded me.

Posted 6 parcels first thing Wednesday morning, all 2nd under 2Kg, N Scotland to SE & SW England - ME, CT & BS post codes all of which are showing delays.  Been notified that 3 arrived on Saturday so well behind last year's 1 to 2 days but no real problem. 1st LL posted same time arrived Friday.

You could always go in and ask them to return it earlier than the retention period.

I was in my local PO today and the chap told me there are serious delays. I expected that really but was surprised to learn it is taking up to 2 weeks for 2nd class parcels to arrive now and a week for some 1st class parcels.
If a buyer opens a case for no delivery of goods what should the procedure be regarding refunds etc.
A few months ago I refunded an angry buyer after about 2 weeks just so they wouldn't leave me a 'negative' About a week later I saw that the parcel had eventually been delivered. I sent a message and even contacted eBay on the matter but never got a payment.The buyer therefore got the goods and the money. I did block her but it was annoying
