Royal Mail delivery times

Finally today I received a a RMT (tracked 48 hour) delivery that was scanned into RM on 25 November.  It's not done anything on the tracking until today.  Not the sellers fault (as it was scanned at the DO and went nowhere).  It is a strain this year.

A friend mentioned that he got nowhere with a claim for late delivery, the excuse was exceptional circumstances of Christmas, covid and Black Friday...

I’ve just submitted a claim for late delivery, it wasn’t the guaranteed delivery of next day, the item arrived the day after around 12:30.

Has this sloppy service become the normal for Royal Mail Special Delivery? It isn’t the case for DHL, less than 24 hours “door to door” UK to Spain recently.

TBH. RM should have changed the 1pm time years ago.
It was changed from 12 to 1pm around the time the 2nd delivery was dropped.
As finish times got later and delivery spans longer the 1pm time made less & less sense.

Yes I’ve done my normal post run , but I have extended my dispatch times , whilst continuing to send same or next day .  I am going to extend my dispatch time again next week and am considering putting my eBay accounts on the new ‘away’ scheme next Friday until Christmas Eve afternoon. 

Frankly I’m struggling with all this now, my eBay sales are the worst I’ve ever known for this time of year and it’s only Facebook sales that bring me up to my usual volumes . My incoming post is all over the place, not only are we going several days a week with no mail, but we are also getting stuff with completely wrong addresses on it, wrong name, wrong street name wrong postcode - the only thing correct is the house number. 

I’ve also strangely got a bill of almost £12 for RM handling and HMRC taxes for an international item, yet I have nothing expected worth more than £6-£7 at most so something is amiss, and I’ve decided to ignore it and not pay . 

If London goes into tier 3 next week as I suspect it will then it impacts something really important in my private life just to add to my general mood so RM issues are just adding to the gloom.

Looks like RM are struggling . I had a Tracked package due in Edinburgh sitting in Home Counties MC.
Had a delivery estimate of Wednesday from RM.
Messaged one of the guys and he said theres a definite slow down in the network.
Again despite the hype on volumes,RMs running tight on spend is the real issue. Christmas is Christmas.
From what Im hearing its nothing that couldnt be handled with the normal Christmas spend/overtime set up.

I was impressed with my SD posted yesterday and got there at 10.03am this morning, was expecting it to not be done within the timescale.

Another day without post here but I have continued to send my outward post in the hope it arrives at some point.

Posted some cards 1st class on Sunday evening, my daughter asked me to post some for her whilst I was doing it.  2 to same person in next postcode prefix district - mine arrived Tuesday and my daughters Wednesday.  Another within same postcode prefix arrived Thursday. And we are supposedly running above national average for 1st class time with no delays published by RM. MrsM's magazine subscription arrived today, one day late as it always does.

The ‘where is my item’ emails are beginning to start rolling in now , I’ve got 2 that were sent on the 4th where buyers have already emailed me, I may have to consider closing my eBay shop earlier than planned and if this becomes a trend.

I’m ending my Christmas related items this weekend.     I would normally end on about the 18th, but can’t risk it this year.    Then I’ll start increasing all my prices and move to first class posting.
