Royal Mail delivery times

  • I’d love to know why buyers magically think that sellers have a crystal ball and can determine when the item will arrive. Even in normal times and with sufficient resources in place there are many factors that will determine when something will arrive or delay a delivery.
  • I'm in Lancs and am finding mail in and out of London is delayed but mail to other areas of the country is as quick as any other time of the year.

I think this is part of the problem, I'm in London and post here has never been this bad- yet others don't see many problems so just assume I'm either lying about posting, or scamming them somehow. I sent a large letter out to a friend with some small gifts, it went on the 5th December and arrived yesterday. That travelled probably less than 10 miles as the crow flies.

I'm also sitting here banging my head on the table as I have an enquiry from a facebook buyer, their item was sent Friday 2nd class and hasn't arrived, so how do they go about a refund please as they needed the piece of 'frivolous nonsense' urgently.

  • I have noticed that my parcels are taking maybe one or two days longer by 2nd Class Signed For which isn’t too bad but there’s definitely a slow down with International Track and Signed. I sent an item to Portugal on 27th November and it is yet to be delivered. I sent another one to Netherlands on 5th December and again no update since leaving the UK. I could have borrowed a canoe and rowed it there faster myself.

But then you'd probably have needed to self-isolate either there or here ...🙂

Really understand the frustration though, RM used to be excellent but they can't be trusted nowadays.

I sent a Signed For letter last month on a Friday which recipient confirmed arrived on the Monday.

Royal Mail never gave me any updates beyond "we've got it" so while I understand signatures are not being taken, no delivery confirmation either as their should have been.

Wasted my money, currently awaiting a reply from RM as to how I claim the fee back.

Lack of signature claims are disallowed and the only other option on their forms is lost.
The post man/woman should still be putting something into their pad. Mine had no signature but showed “XPI” in the signature box.
Process is recipient name and 'CV19' as signature

That's the code we use to minimise contact with customers. We put your name in then sign XP1.  We are tracked to your door and everywhere we go via our PDA's.

    Thanks for that. Makes sense.

Posted 6 parcels first thing Wednesday morning (9th), all 2nd under 2Kg, N Scotland to SE & SW England - ME, CT & BS post codes all of which are showing delays.  Been notified that 3 arrived on Saturday so well behind last year's 1 to 2 days but no real problem. 1st LL posted same time arrived Friday.

The remaining 3 have arrived over the past few days, the last one this morning so not a good show compared to last year.
    3 parcels arrived here today
1st  SP posted Monday in CT
2nd MP posted Saturday in ME
Hermes 2-5Kg handed over to shop Sunday in ME
