Royal Mail delivery times

I listed a few bits and pieces during the last £1 fee promotion. Sent 5 2nd class signed for items on Tuesday. 3 have been delivered today. I'm very impressed. I thought it would take a lot longer.

As an aside. As the country goes into tier 4 just about everywhere. It looks like RM has decided to return to normal callers office opening hours from next week.....

Received a 2nd letter yesterday franked 19th and a 2nd letter today franked 29th.  The 2 x 1LLs I posted 13th still not arrived

It’s getting a bit late for post today now but we haven’t had any post since Wednesday, and yes I know yesterday was a bank holiday so none would be expected). I have a few Christmas cards that I know were sent to me which haven’t turned up (one was a large letter as it contained photos)  plus a couple of small parcel, all sent early to mid December.

We haven't had a postal delivery since the 22nd December, though the Royal Mail status page did list our delivery office as having resourcing issues since then.
I dread to think how much mail is just sitting there to be delivered..

I know for a fact the DOs were busy up to NY and forecast busy today (or Monday for Scotland)
Traffic coming into DOs pre NY was full of Christmas cards from mid December.

Pretty poor show from RM this year. Far too focused on saving and using COVID as a get out. Its been busy but not that busy.

RM have shot themselves in the foot this Christmas with lots of sellers turning to alternative carriers.     Unfortunately most of my post is letters or large letters so I’m stuck with them.   I‘m currently going through all my listings increasing my prices to cover the upgrade to first class posting.

I’ve got a couple of parcels to go tomorrow (Facebook not eBay) and am sending them Hermes as I am still routinely getting items delivered by them in 2 days where my RM parcels are just taking ages. 

The increases in RM costs are just an added irritation and reading other groups and forums it seems that the price increases have taken a lot of people by surprise. I’ve not been able to get an updated booklet or anything from RM or the mail centre and just keep being told to print one off online.

If the price increase has taken them by surprise, wait till they hear about second class going to six working days !      I’m beginning to think I must have misunderstood the email I received as it’s not being discussed anywhere.
