I was meant to be going on holiday at the weekend, I was offered a flight today (Wednesday) instead. Phoned my insurer (through my bank account) and they said I wouldn't be covered from when the rules came into force, as I would be knowingly travelling against advice that was coming into force. My argument that I was going before the rules had no effect, if I had flown before Saturday I would have been covered, but once I know advice is not to travel from Thursday I wouldn't' be covered from Thursday. Seems harsh and worth an argument, but there were other reasons why I couldn't fly today so it was irrelevant.
The message is that if you are trying to find a loophole through the rules, check your travel insurance.

Most people probably won't bother to check whether they are covered by their insurance or not! It would never occur to them that they would not be. Was watching the lunchtime news here in the West Midlands and Bham Airport was completely empty barring a couple of people and that was today! What will it be like tomorrow I wonder, they may as well close it down.0

Can anyone tell me how much of your flight ticket transfers over to a new booking? The price seems to include the cases and I know that O'Leary doesn't allow you to carry across baggage charges. The prices are not broken down on the receipt!0

Just been into Ryanair to try to transfer my old flights for new flights for next year. Couldn't believe my eyes. All the prices were coming up as "£35" until you clicked on them and then they shot up to between £85 and £95 for every flight" no matter what day or what month !! Looks like I will be losing the whole amount of nearly £300 because of the thieving Michael O'Leary trying to cash in on people swapping flights. He can get stuffed !!0

If you wish to look at property abroad or simply wish for a tour of Europe's churches, you should be fine.

For instance, for Greece the travel advice is the Greek state will cover the following costs:
- Testing on arrival, if required.
- The cost of transporting you from the place you are staying to a hotel where you can quarantine, if required.
- The cost of the quarantine hotel or additional nights in your accommodation if you are still supposed to be self-isolating after you are due to depart.
EHIC will cover the costs if you are hospitalised.
Sounds good?
However, if you show symptoms while at your hotel you will be forced to pay for a private PCR test to be done at the hotel (not covered by EHIC) and if you can't return home on your scheduled day you'll have to pay for a new flight. If your adequately insured then you may be able to claim on your insurance for those costs but the EHIC or Greek state won't cover those.0
