yes airport staff or security - plus immigration at the other end might have a say in the matterbradders1983 said:You could just answer the question?
NHS worker? Will you be finding the time again to do all the TikTok videos?
And no, I don't partake in such purile things
I also haven't seen my mother or my son since March - why you ask - because working in a Covid environment - it wouldn't be sensible
happy -- i really hope one day someone you love and care for doesn't require any health services, because with your cavalier attitude towards the pandemic you aren't welcome0 -
Thats great, I will tell Christies to stop the cancer treatment on my gran post haste because I upset Jamo Lew on a forum 🤣🤣
And no, immigration at the other end wont have a say at all if you meet the entry requirements and dont have the oul lurgy. Airport staff also wont get involved imo, someone on this very forum in this very thread had that confirmed today on the phone.
If anyone wants to travel then more power to their elbow, obviously this is at their own risk.0 -
upset - no
bemused - yes
why not do something constructive then and go volunteer at a hospital for a week - see if your viewpoint changes
and btw - do you honestly think she is getting the BEST treatment possible ?
I guarantee NOT
cancer services have been heavily impacted in the last 8 months and treatment regimes are NOT optimal0 -
Im alright ta. May book a holiday to the Canaries instead, leaving Saturday.0

But if you contract the virus on your journey home no doubt you will expect treatment from the already stretched NHSBen1989 said:
NHS hold my absolute respect. I understand your frustration but my wife has not seen her family in two years. She also has a degrading family member. As mentioned, we will be self-isolating prior to travelling, I will be having a test during my isolation from a ONS visitor. Once arriving, we will be quarantining and paying for tests after a few days to ensure there was no airport transmission. Upon arriving back to the UK we will be straight in the car straight home and self-isolating for two weeks.

Just found out on the notification of the change of flight date that if they give you 2 weeks notice they can refuse compensation, they gave us 19 days notice unfortunately.CKhalvashi said:
Depends when it was cancelled and why.Leodogger said:
Might do that thanks. Also I have been told by my son that I could claim compensation from Ryanair for a cancelled flight as we were originally booked to fly on the 4th November and it was cancelled and moved to the 6th November.silvercar said:
Try staysure, they are still covering covid.Leodogger said:
No insurance company covers you for any items relating to Covid unless you took it out before the pandemic hit us !epm-84 said:
For those who have booked a package or have suitable insurance banning non-essential travel is what will trigger a refund/insurance payout.Leodogger said:
The Foreign Office is putting out new advice Thursday morning to ban all non-essential travel, pity they are not offering a refund too on holidays booked BEFORE March !! Easy to throw out these rules left, right and centre. How many deaths will they have on their hands from suicides which are soaring.JamoLew said:
A holiday is NOT essential travel - be prepared to be turned around
BBC: From Thursday, holidays both inside England and abroad will be banned until 2 December, as the government tries to stop a second wave of coronavirus from spreading.
Independant: Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed – including holidays in the UK and abroad.
guess I can ignore all the other "advice" when I go back into work in an NHS hospital tomorrow as well then
Yey - no more mask, no more wrecked hands from washing etc - don't worry, the patients will be fine
Unfortunately, those who booked flights with Ryanair and have insurance which excludes anything related to COVID-19 are screwed.
Has anyone else done this before ?
I'm assuming that Ryanair will use the get out of government restrictions though, which given the current situation is a completely valid one if the route touches the UK.1 -

It’s not individual’s fault either!mattyprice4004 said:Leodogger said:
Same for us travelling to Costa Del Sol, where my daughter lives they have hardly had any cases and some villages have had none, all the infection is in the north of Spain. If the FCDO bans travel out of the country, then the airlines must compensate those who were due to travel but at the moment Michael O'Leary said he is running a skeleton schedule for business travellers and no one will get a refund if they cancel their flights or fail to turn up!!Ben1989 said:
Let's hope not, for selfish reasons. The irony is, where I'll be travelling to, cases and deaths are 12x better than here. I'm safer travelling haha.epm-84 said:
The CEO of a travel consultancy firm appeared on Sky News this morning saying reliable industry sources are saying the FCDO is going to issue a new ruling against all non-essential overseas travel effective from 00:01 on Thursday, which will apply UK wide as FCDO responsibilities are not devolved. He also did specifically say it would be a ban, not just guidance against. It's understood those already abroad on non-essential business won't be asked to return home immediately but he also said many leisure airlines are ready to cancel flights from next week as soon as the FCDO advice is updated, meaning if you go away for 2 weeks on Wednesday you may be stuck there until restrictions in the UK are lifted.Leodogger said:
Those are the standard rules which I already knew about but the lockdown introduces new rules which have not been set out by the Gov until now but apparently they are going to issue a more comprehensive set of rules on Wednesday but what's the bet it will just be a confirmation of what we have already been told and as I said, the airports have been given no new guidance since temperatures were introduced after the last lockdown.bradders1983 said:
There are no restrictions on UK nationals entering Spain but do check the details in the 2nd grey box here...Leodogger said:Further update: To double check I spoke again to Ryainair chat line and they said they only need passport and tickets to check in but I should contact the embassy in the country I am heading to to check if that is all we will need from their end! Why the Spanish embassy would want to check why you are entering the country from the UK I don't know.
https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain
The chat has told you to check with the embassy as that is their stock answer: all entry requirements are the responsibility of the passenger.Rightly so, it shouldn't be down to airlines if the Gov advice changes at the last minute (and thankfully it isn't).If anyone, be angry at the Government - it's not Ryanair's fault you can't travel, and thus they shouldn't (and won't) have to pick up the tab. That other airlines are being far more helpful shows Ryanair in a bad light.
BA will refund me if they cancel my flight or give me a future travel voucher if the flight goes ahead, but regulations mean I can’t use it.
people will remember in the future, who looked after their customers better.I agree with you completely - it's terrible customer service, but that won't bother Mr O'leary a jot.The awful truth is money speaks, and while a good few people will likely choose other airlines a lot will still fly with Ryanair purely down to the low prices.0 -

Yes, but not in a pandemic - the EU legislation that entitles someone to compensation for cancellations etc largely doesn't apply at the moment, as the delay / cancellation is due to a pandemic.
