I really cant believe you are encouraging someone to travel from a Tier 3 area (against advice) to go on holiday (against advice)
No wonder we are in a mess again !!
Let's just all do what we want shall we and allow thousands more to die (and not just from CV-19)
It's heartbreaking for us NHS workers

You could just answer the question?

NHS worker? Will you be finding the time again to do all the TikTok videos?

My problem of 'risking it' is that we're travelling to Heathrow from Merseyside. Quite the drive down the motorway!
You shouldn’t even be leaving the area - it’s Tier 3 you know (granted it’s advice, but go into the Royal Liverpool and see the effect this virus is having on the NHS before hand)
Overnight stay in the UK and abroad are banned from the 5th btw (according to various news sources via google)
    You probably aren’t going anywhere
You're absolutely correct in what you're saying. However, we'll be self-isolating before travelling. My wife works at home anyway and I am also part of the ONS survey so I get tested weekly and consequently will have a test during my isolation. Then the risk is only between airports, effectively eliminating the risks from where I am travelling from (eg. Merseyside vs Cornwall). We will also be paying to get tested several days after landing to ensure airport transmission did not occur.
I don't understand why we can't get tested and allowed to travel even if we are going on holiday, surely the only concern is that you are not passing on the virus so if you are clear you should not be banned from travelling, but AGAIN the Gov is completely incompetent in not introducing this step to enable people to travel abroad.   Especially now as testing is getting quite quick and cheap!
Agreed, though the government is probably more concerned about people bringing it back to the UK, having partied and mingled abroad.
I was going to somewhere with zero coronavirus and having a test before travel, so the risks where arguably lower than remaining here.
Well I was going to Costa Del Sol to my daughter's place and they hardly ever hear of anyone with Covid as there are mostly elderly people live there and they are very careful to obey all the rules.
Have you not heard of Marbella and Malaga? They are on the Costa del Sol and they certainly aren't retirement towns. It's also under lockdown under 9th November.
It's not under lockdown, they have a curfew after 10.p.m. until 6.a.m. and cannot travel into another region.   They haven't changed their rules from the start of this pandemic hardly.   Always had to wear masks everywhere, cannot travel out of region and curfew after 10.a.m. but can still go to pubs and restaurants, unlike this miserable country AND they have not closed their external borders !

A holiday is NOT essential travel - be prepared to be turned around

BBC: From Thursday, holidays both inside England and abroad will be banned until 2 December, as the government tries to stop a second wave of coronavirus from spreading.
Independant: Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed – including holidays in the UK and abroad.

guess I can ignore all the other "advice" when I go back into work in an NHS hospital tomorrow as well then

Yey - no more mask, no more wrecked hands from washing etc - don't worry, the patients will be fine
The Foreign Office is putting out new advice Thursday morning to ban all non-essential travel, pity they are not offering a refund too on holidays booked BEFORE March !!   Easy to throw out these rules left, right and centre.   How many deaths will they have on their hands from suicides which are soaring.

Perhaps you have not already been stuck in a house for 8 months without seeing hardly a soul and not been in a social gathering for all that time, let alone nipping off for weekends like many have been doing!    The elderly have already been locked up for months and months and you are saying just do as you are told !   No wonder mental health issues are going through the roof.

Its alright mate, we get all the videos of intensive care nurses doing silly dances to Blinding Lights by The Weeknd soon, that will cheer the nations spirits again. Or something.

NHS hold my absolute respect. I understand your frustration but my wife has not seen her family in two years. She also has a degrading family member. As mentioned, we will be self-isolating prior to travelling, I will be having a test during my isolation from a ONS visitor. Once arriving, we will be quarantining and paying for tests after a few days to ensure there was no airport transmission. Upon arriving back to the UK we will be straight in the car straight home and self-isolating for two weeks.

I am a strict PPE follower, we haven't been to a single restaurant or bar since March. Purely seeing family when it was allowed and work. My wife has been working from home since March and is going insane.

Your frustration should be aimed at young people who decide to go pubs to see their 9 mates, ordering meals without touching them just to get drunk, people who go into the shop without their mask because they're only 'nipping in', people who think their nose is not attached to their airway and therefore do not need to cover it, people who have tests and go into work before their results because 'it's definitely just a cold', people who land from a non-exempt country and go out on a bender as soon as they land and sack isolating off.

It's not under lockdown...cannot travel out of region
Pre-COVID pandemic lockdown would have been defined as not being able to leave a specific building or area e.g. a university campus on lockdown, nothing to do with whether pubs or shops within the specified area are open or not.

Local politicians in Spain have referred to the Andalucia restrictions as a lockdown.

For those who have booked a package or have suitable insurance banning non-essential travel is what will trigger a refund/insurance payout.

Unfortunately, those who booked flights with Ryanair and have insurance which excludes anything related to COVID-19 are screwed.

I haven't seen my grandparents in almost a year. My Grandfather is in ailing health and had an operation not two days ago. My cousin's wedding has been cancelled twice. You aren't more deserving than the rest of us.
