Search for Apple repairers (or similar) on Google, contact some of them and ask if they would provide a report (they might even have a website which mentions they provide this service) for your situation eg to back up your case for a replacement from a retailer.
Ask people you know if they have any reccomendations, try the Nextdoor website or a local facebook group.1 -

“Yeah I can hear it banging. You say it’s always banged and you drive it carefully? Probs been like it since you got it then. Shame you didn’t buy it from me or Id have given you a free car.”powerful_Rogue said:Anteater23 said:
Thank you for your reply. The response I got was on official looking headed paper with “Genius Bar” and Apple logo at the top, however at the very bottom of the page it says “this is not a VAT invoice”. So is what I have already official fault report albeit a bad one? I’m going back to Apple this week.KatrinaWaves said:Apple will be VAT registered. I don’t know what you got from them but it doesn’t appear to be an official report, rather a record of their conversation with you.
it is likely the iPad will need to be opened to find the fault. That won’t affect your claim with Argos. No one said Argos are expecting you to go to a random ipad repairer. It almost seems like you’re not ready by the responses properly.Go to Apple. Ask for an official fault report on your iPad to take to the retailer to allow you to claim under the U.K. consumer rights act.
Sorry, I am reading all the responses. It’s just if they don’t accept my Genius Bar report would a mobile repair shop be the type of place to visit?
thank youYou do not have a report from Apple. It can't be a report if they haven't opened the tablet up and looked inside to see what the fault is.Would you take the word of a mechanic if you took your car there with a banging noise coming from the engine and they didn't look under the bonet?
that’s what you’ve got OP.1 -
I have never had an ipad, but what is the expected life of such items? I know the phones are sold on 12-18-24- month contracts and pretty much just swapped for new after that period. Are tablets similar? If so, this device is at least 75% of life. I know they are expensive to buy, but that does not directly impact the life-expectancy of how they are sold as short-lived disposable items.0

I had my previous iPad for 6 years until the screen cracked when the metal strap of my watch hit it. My sisters both hair the iPad Air 2 from 2014 and it’s still going strong. I have the mid 2010 MacBook and it is still going strong today.Grumpy_chap said:I have never had an ipad, but what is the expected life of such items? Six year old iPad going strong here. Its predecessor lasted at least four years (I gave it away at that point so no idea how long it lasted after that.)

I would expect a MacBook to last longer than an iPad.
My tablet (cheaper type than iPad) lasted only a couple of years really. That's why I asked about the expected life of an iPad - genuine question.

I've had mine 5 years. Dropped it loads of times, one time the screen popped out of the frame but I clicked it back in and it still works fine.0

Iv got a friend who is a manager in a tech repair shop let me ask him what his opinion is and what he thinks the cost would be because I have had multiple screen repairs done by them (my son is autistic and gets annoyed when it goes off) and have never had any problems. Op go to apple and let us know what they say also I am confused as to how apple know what the actual fault is without opening it up? X

The OP has been advised what to do, up to them if they follow through with the advice.1
