According to the Argos website, colleague discount is 10%. OP purchased £480 iPAD for £430 and can now sell on eBay for £420 after 16 months benefit of use. No loss suffered for Argos to compensate.0

Yeah but no but.The OP's iPad is broken/faulty isn't it, so he's not going to get anything like £400 for it despite what he thinks he's seen on eBay?And if he does get £400 for it, he'll then have to deal with an irate buyer complaining it's broken!Or I may be completely wrong...(Sorry - this thread and the other one have caused me to lose the plot completely... )(Sorry - this thread and the other one have got m0

A user suggested I tell Argos this so that if they cannot offer me a replacement (it’s no longer available in shops) then I can ask for a refund that fairly compensates me so that I can buy myself an equivalent iPad. I don’t want to end up in the scenario where I’m not offered a replacement but offered a refund amount that would get nowhere near the cost of a replacement (say from eBay). I’m worried however that since my iPad may be technically unsellable that they could say something silly like it isn’t worth anything and so offer me very little (meaning I would have to add a lot of money myself to get a replacement).0

Sorry, but it's up to Argos what you are offered & it will be the least costly to them0

This is all assuming they accept the diagnosis you have. They might not do so and consider they have to do nothing. In that case, the next move is yours.0 -

If the retail price of your iPad was £479(?) 17 months ago, there is no way that Argos are going to offer you anywhere near £400 as a partial refund now - irrespective of what you think you've seen on eBay.I've said what I think is a reasonable refund range given the 17 months of use you've had of it (£200 - £300), and Grumpy chap has suggested an even lower value of £150. Aylesbury Duck has also suggested that any lower values on eBay etc - say £200 - would justify a similar offer.I can't see Argos realistically offering you more than about £150 to £200 initially. By all means use any evidence you can find to support an argumant for a larger refund, but don't expect to succeed. I'd be surprised if at the very best you got more than £250 to £300.But it's pointless us debating it here. Simply present your technician's report saying that the iPad has an inherent manufacturing fault and tell Argos you want a refund*. Whether it's a good negotiating tactic at the outset to say how much you want I don't know. If you ask for £400 it might encourage them to make a higher opening offer than they would otherwise do. Or they might think you are taking the mickey and offer you £50. I don't know. You are just going to have to do it.*I'm not sure if you've already done this as I've lost track of this thread.0

From your comments, I'm guessing it was an iPad Air 2 64GB?
Not sure where you're getting £421, most of them on eBay (sold prices) are sub-£200

You can even get a refurb on Amazon for £299.95

I think you'd be lucky to get £200.0 -
I’ve just checked on CeX, the most for the good condition iPad is are £220. As OPs is not in good condition, and considering it’s use, the £100 from Argos is a good offer.
Written on my six year old iPad 2. Still working, but than again if the company I work for wants me to use an trinket, they buy me said trinket!0
