Been staying weekends withS.I.L. in Cardiff, not really low carbing, but her portion control is fantastic, actually probably under macros on fat and protein, also bonus of staying in someone elses home, you can`t browse for nibbles, there isn`t any anyway, unless you count the vast shelf ful of gluten free biscuits, which "she doesn`t eat", lost a couple of pounds, which is great.Do I need it or just want it.2

Supper tonight was NZ lamb leg chops (3 packs for £10 at ASDA) with sauteed organic mushrooms, onions, peas and leeks, with Slimming World peppercorn sauce over the top as it's relatively low carb and gluten free. Husband had gone to ASDA and besides the lamb and organic avocados (£1 each) he couldn't get anything on the list. NO carrots (for salads), onions, cherry tomatoes, leeks, courgettes, cauliflower, broccoli, runner beans or spinach. Not just no organic, but none at all. No celeriac or swede either. I don't want to pay £3.25 for a cauliflower from Abel & Cole (which doesn't even have its own organic farrms) so I have to do a Waitrose delivery and hope I get some of it.
Bought a low carb slow cooker cook book by Sarah Flower. Anyone used it ?1 -
Downloaded a sample @MrsStepford, not very informative, let me know to add to my many kindle books, I do like Monya Kilian Palmer Lazy Keto Kitchen, I have her first book in hard copy, and on my kindle for her second.
Having a chicken curry tonight, I use Aldi jars, my S.I.L. who is also gluten intolerant can eat these as the thickener is rice flour, adding cauli and frozen spinach cubes and some green beans need to be used up.
Not sure what tomorrow as hit the shops early and the fresh caulis were horrid and no meat joint was appealing, so will have a rumage in the freezer, but we did get a turkey crown for Christmas.Do I need it or just want it.2 -
We did the pork goulash from the book last night @pamsdish and didn't rate it. I don't think we'll be using the book much.
Roast chicken, runner beans, petits pois, mashed potato squash (all organic) and Slimming World roasted onion gravy tonight.2 -
I was lured by a picture on F/B yesterday, pumpkin muffins, as usual with American recipes it was, take a can of, open a jar or packet, BUT I did have a can of chesnut puree, so subbed that, added, almond flour, coconut flour, sweetener, eggs coconut milk and oil and baked,
if you see low flying seagulls, can`t attain any height, they tried them too.
Had cauli with a chicken leg and cabbage yesterday, thinking today, as I have 2 huge portabella mushrooms and the last few slow ripening tomatoes to go, will get some sausage out, find some of the frozen cauli hash browns, make a sort of mixed grill.Do I need it or just want it.2 -
Time for a kitchen bookshelves shuffle now, as leaves are falling. Snyone have favourite auttumn/winter cookbooks ?2

I have several cook books, but to be honest I look for ideas on-line.Do I need it or just want it.2

i only have 2 cookbooks, both very old pre war ones. i do look up recipes online if i want to try something different
winter time is usually lots of stews, lowcarb and cheap!! i put loads of veggies in and then take some out when done, whizz them up and add them back to thicken the stew instead of adding a carby thickenerWhen you know better you do better4 -
Any interest in starting over.
I try to restrict myself to around 50g carbs a day, seems to work for me.
Today 28/12/21 13st 3lb
Breakfast 2 poached eggs , no low carb bread in, will make a loaf tomorrow.
Dinner, chicken thigh with left over sweet potato, bit of parsnip, leek and celeriac cooked together as a soup.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
I'm a member of dietdoctor.com now and sweet potatoes and parsnips don't make their low carb veg list. Sounds like a really nice soup though. We have a soupmaker and should really make soup more often !
I had two organic gluten-free pork and apple sausages for breakfast, with a couple of organic free range eggs. Lunch was salady bits with home-made dressing and some Leerdammer cheese (Iceland offer) and tonight we're having Scottsh venison steaks (Morrison offer weeks ago, was stashed in the freezer) with organic leeks.
I'm getting the other half to give up vaping and cut down on the booze. I'm giving up no caffeine Diet Coke and cutting down on the Lindt 90% cocoa chocolate. We finished the champagne (ASDA offer) yesterday and the port at the weekend so we'll see how long Being Good, lasts !0
