  • I went off the rails this last week and gained 6lbs (mostly water of course but still not ok!)

I decided to to a beef and butter fast for a week to hopefully drag me back into ketosis. Basically beef and butter for all meals lol. Cooked a roast in the slow cooker yesterday which should last 3 days, got steaks and burgers too. Each day should be around 5g carbs with a high fat level, very similar to the egg fast.

Beef is so expensive, tried the local butcher to compare but it’s pretty much the same. Gonna keep my eyes peeled for his week for yellow stickers to keep me ticking over.

I will share the results next week!

@Islandmaid which electrolyte supplement do you use? I generally use sea salt/pink Himalayan salt as a drink or just bump up my salt through drink or food. I know I should take potassium and magnesium too. Which I take as tablets from Holland and barrett.
    What does everybody else take?

It depends, if I am working, I take electrolytes in tablet form, I chose Bio-Health extra mineral complex, I also use a pinch of salt in any drink I have, a huge coffee in the morning, then water for the rest of the day. When I’m not at work, I use a mix of lemon juice, salt, apple cider Vinegar (with mother) and a pinch of low salt for potassium.

I also take a good multivitamin, and don’t bother with additional magnesium.

jackie - the meat fest looks good 🤩

I saw this today which made me giggle

Burger with flatbread(pinch of salt, 1T grated cheese, 1T flaxseed, 1T psyllium husks, 1T almond flour, 1T olive oil or sunflower oil or melted butter, 1egg plus 1T soya milk) place in a microwave or bake in oven or fry on stove(my go to method as quick and crispy nice colour). Also salad on the side.

Had a chicken curry with kale. Still felt hungry so made some pancakes from whey protein, 1 egg, sweetener, yoghurt, little milk, melted butter, coconut cream, little psyllium husk, little ground flaxseed, pinch of salt, mixed and fried in cast iron skillet. I just made up the recipe into a semi runny consistency and it worked. It was quite fluffy like regular pancakes. Was quite full after which helped me not get tempted to eat ice cream which the the children were having.
