Hello
Blimey - what a day for hospital visit's etc and (((hugs))) to you all. I too have had my OS day 'ruined' by spending the morning at......
A&E!! D6yo decided to bang his head on the bathroom floor last night whilst messing about with his brother. All OK at the time, but when he woke this morning - headaches, felt sick, dizzy so off to see the trusty NHS to make sure it was nothing more than a mild concussion. It's not, he's happy with his £4 Matalan t-shirt (I was going to get him some new ones anyway, but he thinks its a 'special' pressie) and he's gone to schoolSo, by the time I had both boys to respective schools, it was 12.45 before I put my first load of washing on the line
So, bol sauce will be made in pan as no time for slow-cooker, was going to make a raisin loaf, but that will have to wait till tomorrow and now I've finished my cuppa, I'm off to do all that cleaning I was going to do this morning, then I could have spent this afternoon picking some curtain material at my leisure, without ds2 at my heels. Oh well, boys will be boys and other such banalities0 -
Oh, don't talk about impulse buys! I never send (unless impossible for me to go) my OH to Tesco as he comes back with loads of stuff I didn't want to eat! I say that because it is all the stuff that if I have it in the house... I eat it!
Oh and yes when my boyfriend and I moved into our new house and had a proper kitchen so I could do loads more HM dinners he put on about 1/2 stone or more! He is the kind of guy though who really can eat anything and not put on weight so I worked very hard! Then he weighed himself at the weekend and he has lost 5lbs recently... probably because the weather is hot so he isn't having his tea and biscuits! So have now made my famous yummy choc chip cookies!
Whats worse is I put on about a stone and have only lost half of it! But to be honest I haven't tried that hard... just less naughty puddings!
Greenlogo, popped to boots (only local chemist I know of) in my lunchtime, now have cream... will sooth... that's better..... ahhhhhh....oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -

Well, I lived in Bristol for a couple of years (Clifton, then just off Park Street, then into Redland) before moving to Bath, but the Parking attendants are seriously annoying me here, so Im moving back towards Bristol, not quite in the city centre though, more on the outskirts in between Bath and Bristol (as boyf is in a band and needs easy access to rehearsals etc in Bath), or somewhere in Clifton or Redland (so long as my neighbours arent noisy students!). I personally wouldnt mind moving to somewhere like Hanham or Longwell Green, as they appear relatively quiet, and access is good - as well as a BIG Asda!!
Where abouts are you??
Jo xx
Jo,
I moved about 3 months ago from Longwell Green after living there for nearly 7 years.. We lived on a dead end so nice and quiet.
Handy for the 24 hour Asda I use to stack shelves in there. You also have Hypervalue and "What" so good bargain stores. Got myself a new handbag in a backpack style £1.
Hanham is nice as well my MIL lived there and I lived with her for a year or sol. In kingswood you have Wilkinsons and Pound Stretchers so some good cheapie stores.
And you are not far from Emersons green they have nice boots with advantage card machines unlike Kingswood.
If you got any questions about the area just ask and I will do my best to answer them for you.
Yours
CalleyHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

Especially for you Catznine
Salmon topping (serves one, but can easily be made up for more people)
mix half grated rind of a lemon (or lime) with juice of half a lemon (or lime), 1 tbsp honey and 1/3 tbsp wholegrain mustard.
place piece of salmon flesh side up in a flame proof dish. Drizzle over topping and grill under the hottest grill for about 6 mins until cooked all the way through and golden brown on top.
Butterbean mash (again for one, but can be rounded up)
use approx 2/3 tin of buterbeans per person. rinse, add to pan with 1 tbsp creme fraich, small knob butter, generous pinch of salt and black pepper. Mash together. A small hand held blender produces a better result than anything else.
squeaky - I've copied this to the recipe thread.
popped out at lunchtime to buy a birthday present - ended up buying a top in G*P. Ooops. At elast it was in the sale at 70% off as well, so can't complain too much!!!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
 O.K hands up. Who on OS first gave me the idea that a breadmaker is an essential piece of kitchen kit. I've today, more from boredom than anything else and to keep a 2yo entertained, discovered that I can make the most delicious doughtnuts.
Now theres a great` `big pile of sugared ring doughnuts sitting in the kitchen 'singing' to me. GRRR.0 -
Please Post The Recipe In Either Our Old Style Collection Or The Breadmaking One So It Can Be Indexed.
