HI Everyone,
Firstly I'd like to say how much I love reading this board. Unfortunately I work full time quite long hours but I enjoy logging on at work and seeing what everyone is up to. You have inspired me to do 'proper' cooking and I am proud to say I now have a freezer full of home made shepherds pie, casserole etc. - much better than all the ready meals and takeaways I used to buy on my way home from work. I am now coveting a slow cooker - with all the money I'm saving on ready meals I might just treat myself!
Learningtosave - I bought a second hand sewing machine a few years ago, didn't have a clue how to use it but found there is an abundance of sewing books to be found in charity shops. I have now made all of my curtains, a tablecloth and napkins (all rectangles and squares so not too scary) and will never buy curtains again. So please be encouraged to give it a go - if I can, anyone can, and it's very relaxing. Last year I made skirts for both my sisters for Christmas which not only saved loads of money but they really appreciated the time spent on them.
Queenie - hope the bags turn out well - that sounds great fun.
By the way, weather in Birmingham is lovely today!0 -
POOKY: I'm sure lil'un will be fine.....
EYEOPENER: Do you think if I picketed Asda then all the staff would throw fruit and veg at me? Right, where's my crutches!!!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
2 loads of washing on line and two loads of pizza dough being cooked ready for tea.
Have to go to hospital for blood test tonight and daughter has French student over this week so taking them to estate with a bird sanctuary tonight.
Pile of ironing is taller than me but it is just too hot to get round to it.
Dishwasher is churning away as I type.
Seem to be doing nothing but spend money but at least I know what it is going on - trips out - theme park etc."This site is addictive!"

Morning! Actually, its afternoon, but never mind....
After yesterdays sleep-fest, couldnt sleep till 5am as I was wide awake, pleasingly, I got up at 10am though, so the sleeping pattern hasnt been too badly affected, and am feeling much better. Sorry to hear about your foot Rage - Ouch!!
Today I intend to do all the things I was supposed to do yesterday, so im about to shower, go shopping and to laundrette (Lidl - im about to do a shop for two weeks, with budget money and shopping list in hand), ill then get round to cleaning, and attempting my first ever hand baked loaf, so wish me luck! The weather is pretty good here too, its warm and sunny, but there is a really nice breeze, so its all good.
Got a random $3 today in my paypal account for a survey I must have filled out ages ago, but paypal wont let me transfer it to my bank account (pin money - yey) as it only equates to £1.60. Ive decided therefore to go shopping on ebay, and buy myself something cheap, but fun. I have no idea what yet, and will probably end up putting more towards it, failing that, I might start selling stuff, if I can find anything I can bear to part with, and build up some extra cash in the account. Ill probably end up doing nothing though, but in the deep recesses of my mind last night, I was thinking about doing some more photography, getting big photo's done in our darkroom, and then selling them on ebay, but I dont think it would make much money, so I might just do one or two prints for fun and see what happens.
As I live in Bath, we have some amazing scenery and architecture, and there are a lot of local national trust places too, so im not short of subject matter, I just dont know what the Market is like for original photography from an unknown photographer. Anyway, ill think about it later.
I have to again go job hunting, so im thinking about taking a quick journey up to the local hospital, to see if they have any work, we have about a month left to get the cash together for the deposit and first months rent, so I need to start working pretty quick.
Righto' - im off to do todays tasks, have a lovely day all!

Sorry late on parade today! After forgetting the night before last night I took my medication last night (to help me sleep) and boy did it work  have not been up long but feel better and legs do not hurt so much today. Cheered up when I discovered the postman had delivered my copy of Debbie Mumms quilts for every room and spent a long time with cuppa and book devouring all the wonderful ideas. It is a lovely book! I can't wait to finally get to my sewing machine but will have to wait until dd moves out next month. A bit of a two edged sword as I will really miss her!
Rage - I am so sorry to hear about your ankle hope it heals soon.
Pookie - Great Ormond Street is a wonderful hospital (a friends children attended appointments there on a regular basis) and I know this is a very worrying time for you but your daughter will be getting the best possible care there.
R.Mac - Well done on your bargains! Can you tell me how you make the topping for the salmon fillets please?
Well better go and put some washing out before I have to go to work - hope the rain holds off!Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£1200 -

rnshon.....thanks for the pointers about sewing machines.....may go look around the charity shops when we get back from holiday,it will be a good hobby for me too.0 -
Queenie - have fun playing with the sewing machine (I envy anyone who can make a straight line... last time I tried I sewed my fingers!
). Thanks for the 20minute clean too - It's similar to waht I try to do and it's good to see how someone else does their's.
Jamiedodger - what are you trying first in your new cooker then? I'm always a bit wary of cakes and things till I know how they cook, so good luck and we'll decend on you later for a cuppa and some yummy baking
Math - I had a scout for a tear n' share recipie for you but no luck yet. Fingers crossed.
(((Kippsy))) - me too, I've got really bad excema all around my neck and this weather's just driving me MENTAL. I just keep drinking loads of water in the hope that keeping hydrated might help and even if it doesn't it's keeping me away from expensive juice!
(((RAGE))) Ouch, Old style by proxy for a bit then. *still trying to work out how you kick yourself that hard*
MrsMW - we've go great weather tooand I'm KEEPING IT :P
Hornetgirl - ooh holidays, going anywhere fun?
Eyeopener - the challenge sounds interesting - and a good idea to try and wrest some control away from the supermarkets too - report back often!
Learningtosave - hows about some kind of fritatta? Or umm, posh omletteLots n' lots of veggies in it bound with the egg. Once it's cooked and cut up it'll freeze too. I generally clean the fridge with a bicarb solution as it deoderises too.
(((foreverskint))) hopefully your DD will get used to the change, maybe she's missing her one on one "mummy time"? Good luck working through with her.
(((pooky))) and to your family. Health worries are always a bit scary, but GOS are fantastic and hopefully will get straight at the problem, no messing and help your DD get sorted. Thinking of you today.
r.mac - well done you. It's crazy really that it's easier to get lots done when you've no time, but if you've hours they just get swallowed up (mostly on here...)
rnshon - I get stuck at work too (although quite possibly not for that much longer) and got very envious of all the things people have time to do. But then I stopped watching TV and found time suddenly to do LOADS - sounds like you're the same really; congrats on the full freezer!
elona - totally agree about the ironing and have festooned my bathroom with coathangers in an attempt to steam out the worst of the creases, I don't think it's going to work though!
I've been working all day again, so not terribly O/S (boo) I've been reading up lots of recipies on line to make tommorrow night when I've a bit of time though (mostly off the Bero site) in between applying for new jobs left right and centre... the announcement of which of the 3 of us will be made redundant is due in the next day or so, so I'm preparing for the worst
. I think a change of direction could be in order maybe.
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
I just realised - I got my second star!!! :j
