Mornin!
OH is currently at home experimenting with vinegar as a fabric softener. we have shyed away from it for some reason but decided that Ecover, for all its benefits, was proving a little expensive. Will report on findings (not that most of you need telling).
Also;
North West News is doing a supermarket challenge. The idea being that, for one month, you do not touch a supermarket .So we thought GIVE IT A GO!!!! :T It will be fun if nothing else, so that starts today although paid on Thursday so thats probably best day. About time actually.
Apart from that, today eating my HM quiche and cheese and onion pie again which, even if I say it myself, is great.
Actually enjoying being in the Black Hole of Calcutta today. Lifes good. :beer:0 -

well breadmaker was meant to be having a day off but dd1 is asking for fruit bread so its going on for a nice afternoon snack.we have about 10 eggs in the fridge with a date of 8th july but we are on holiday from 3rd to 10th so want to use now so thinking of what eggy things can be done for tea....egg and chips sounds gorgeous but on diet trying to lose post baby jelly belly so im trying to think healthy
two loads of washing out on line and a huge fleece blanket in washing machine as we speak......dont know if this was good idea or not though as although the weather is fantastic at the moment we are meant to have rain and thunder later
absolutely huge pile of ironing awaiting me later  the normal stuff but have got to start doing the ironing and packing ready for holiday on sunday.

also searching out our local farm shops etc after hearing such good things on here and becoming increasingly dissapointed with whats in the supermarket.
do a lot of you sew on here?? how easy are sewing machines to use and clothes, tableclothes to make?? i am in awe of my mil who is fantastic at making things(she made my wedding dress last year) and would love to be able to do it myself but am a little scared....not to mention cash strapped but i could save/get second hand im sure.0 -
Hi every one.
Trying to be as OS as I can bee today. Washing blowing dry in the lovely sunshine, and steak & kidney, bubbling on the hob for pudding to be steamed later, and pie for the freezer. Made chicken soup from carcass from last nights dinner, and I will freeze it for lunch in the impending summer hols.
Trying to entertain my DD who's 2 and has had to suddenly stop breast feeding due to medecine I now have to take for the meniers, I've developed. She seems to think she can get away with murder, ie drawing in crayon over everything and emptying my plant pots:eek: .
Bad luck on your foot Rage, you sound just like my OH, sort of thing he does;)
Have fun with you machine queenie, that's one thing I wish I owned, but with my seewing ability I can't justify the expense.
Have a good day everyone.:j0 -

Whatever your instruction book saysGenerally a mild solution of detergent is more than ample. Try to avoid using the scourer side of a sponge if you can and don't forget to hoover the radiator round the back (very carefully) with the brush attachment.

I bet the managers of Asda and Tesco fainted at that one! :rotfl:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Washing out and bread in - that's about it for today. Made a quiche yesterday for tonights tea as we've got to spend the afternoon at the hospital (hubbies been growing lumps he doesn't need) so no idea what time we'll be back.
Been waiting to hear from the hospital about an appointment for DD2 to get her chest looked at as it's not growing properly and got the letter through this morning - got to take her to Great Ormonde Street.....was a bit of a shock.....thought it would be local....all seems far more serious now!
On a lighter note tho - got a nice birthday cheque from MIL which has paid for my new slow cooker (ordered today from Amazon) and a nice new set of electronic scales to replace the ones I got when I was 17 ( I wondered why my pastry wasn't turning out right - I can see why now :rotfl: )

Ha! Well, the road to hell is full of good intentions. Hopefully our road doesn't lead straight back to the FRIDAY NIGHT SHOP
Will Asda and Tesco miss little old me? No, but if we all tried it....................power to the people! :T0 -
hello to you all
Well, I am feeling rather pleased with myself. Last night I felt hideously lathargic, so wanted to curl up in front of the television and not move. Instead I managed to rope my friend into climbing a hill with me (think the sun is effecting my brain :roftl: )
Anyway, felt tonnes better after that and as my friend had her car, we stopped at a big supermarket on the way home. That's a bit of a treat for me as I don't have a car so use only local shops and a tesco express that only stock extortionate ready made rubbish!!!!!
I did really well with my bargains
Organic salmon fillets - 2 for £2.44
basics butter - 2 for £1.06
bacon on BOGOF
aubergines @ 1/3 off
reduced rool 6 for 20p
porridge oats reduced to 56p for 1kg
Half price nectarines too!
I also picked up a few essentials like milk and potatoes - but all in all felt very pleased with myself. Shopping for the next week done as well as some items for the freezer. My friend spent 3 times as much as I did and kept complaining she didn't understand how. She did have a bigger basket than me and it did have a few more fresh items in it, but in real terms it was no healthier than my choices. She just chose to buy the most expensive items in the shop. I think I managed to open her eyes a little!!!
The salmon was delicious - I ate it grilled with a lemon juice, honey and whole grain mustard topping on a bed of mashed butterbeans (from my storecupboard) and broccoli on the side. Yum.
Today's plan is to capitalise on the idea that if I do things, before I sit down, i am much more productive. So, 20 min wipe down here i come .....................
pooky - I hope that everything works out ok for you and the familyr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0
