Roasted lamb shanks, with herbs from the garden, mint sauce made from homegrown mint, one spare which will be chopped up for tomorrow's biryani. Boys sucked the marrow out of the bones afterwards, special treat - they love it. Got out old style disinfectant and disinfected tiled bit of back garden cos of pong from chicken poo, talked to my chickens (they now stand on the kids' garden table watching the neighbours!!!) made a banana and fruit loaf for tea/packed lunch treats, descaled kettle with vinegar:)
Neapolitan ice cream for afters - the taste of the '70's frozen:) but the chocolate flavour isnt as naff as it used to be.
Made smoothies for the kids with strawberries, ice cubes and some cherryade.
Old fashioned air freshening - front room window wide open as I cant stand the smell of furniture polish. BTW Whats a natural old style alternative? Off to hang washing on the line soon.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

been to local horticultural college shop for some plants so will be out in garden later
had a lovely bouquet from hubby last night so just shared out the flowers between 3 vases, they didn't have cut flower food with them so what can I put in vases to make them last longer?
warmish but cloudy here today
Asprin or lemonade for the flowers will do just fine. If its roses that are wilting pop them into boiling water for a bit and up the heads will go0 -
Hey Queenie & All
Hope your all well!
Today have delegated hubby to do 2 washloads and hung out, cleaned out a cuboard in kitchen, wiped down sides in kitchen.
I sat on stool in kitchen and sealed some lamb chunks with onions, peppers and added seasoning. Put in slow cooker with carrots, potatoes, leek, a bit of mixed frozen veg, small tin of butter beans, & added a colemans lamb stew mix (bogoff 30p) and will be ready about 4pm! Yummy!! Didnt have energy to do a roast and hubby looks so tired looking after me all the time, so thought id give him a break.
My folks came down for the day yesterday (dad proffesionally cleaned my suites and carpets free-saved about £400!)then we went to Makros in the afternoon. I pushed myself and was glad to be out (its been ages!). Used my electric crip scooter and we were there 3 hours  Folks only come down about once a year and they stock up at Makros..lol. Anyway-i got 2 brilliant bargains! I got a 100% soft jersey cotton bed set in a bag (single quilt cover, single base fitted sheet & p/case) for........£0.98 + VAT and a Kingsize waffle blanket with a silky edge for £2.48 + VAT    The jersey bedding I have been after for months but cheapest ive seen is £15 for the cover alone! Mum bought me a lovely pair of cotton pretty PJ's (saved £12!) and a Patricia Cornwell book ive been after! Going into hospital for a few weeks in the next 2 weeks so need some bits and she knows moneys tight at the mo! I did very well and only spent £65 inc VAT  Got 2 huge 135 Bold wash powders for £11.49 each + VAT, buy 1 get 1 half price-will last another 6 months or so. 24 Kitchen rolls, 24 loo rolls, 2 lonsdale crops and 2 lonsdale tops for 10yr daughter, 3 loaves kingsmill (15p each)12 thick 100% cotton old fashioned t-towels, some other bits but cant remember off hand-sorry. I think I did well :j
Also the best news is that my daughter bought me a gorgeous 1/2 carat thick banded ring 3 years ago and thought it had been stolen, and hubby found it under decking friday (when we lost the tortoise) must have fallen out the bedroom windowI am so happy-daughter was well gutted when i couldnt find it 3 years ago-couldnt even claim on insurance because of small print and know it cost over £500  (Hubby part funded-in the days when we had a good income and wasted it!) Daughter is so made up

I should think the Health Board would be a good place to start. I know for sure that at least one nurse regularly posts there, and I'd bet on a fair few patients too.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I found a shop that sells tahini yesterday so bought a Tesco Value hand blender today (£4.98!!) and a tin of chickpeas to make hummus to bring to school for lunches. That'll save me some money + it'll taste better too! Then I did a load of washing; was annoyed about not being able to hang it out (because the BF dug up our washing line post) but have draped it all over the deck and garden furniture instead. It looks like a gypsy camp but I resent putting the tumble drier on in this weather and now I'm sitting out there with my wireless laptop and it smells lovely even if it's like being in the middle of a jumble sale :rotfl:
Then I scooped out the seeds from a pepper and planted them in a spirit of investigation.0 -
3 loads of washing done and dried/drying (more to go :wall: ). I've managed to get all my parsnips planted out, and about 12 beetroots planted out. I've taken some lettuce out completely for us to have for dinner and also to make room for the parsnips  I've now got to think of something to have for tea with salad and then fruit salad for desert (some of the fruit that I bought on Thursday is starting to turn) with ice-cream or yoghurt. Time to raid the cupboards/fridge/freezerCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

Hello everyone :hello:
A productive day ...
... got up early and visited two car boot sales before 10.30. Now have a yoghurt maker, some plastic tubs with lids, a butter dish, some cookie cutters and a couple of Farmhouse Kitchen recipe books. OH is happy with his books ....
Made avocado and bacon toasties for lunch with salad and fresh podded peas & mint (peas from a seller at the car boot). This afternoon potted on some cougette, tomatoe and pepper plants. Washloads have been going out in between. Flapjack is in the oven and we are having home-made pizza (dough curtesy of breadmaker) with salad for tea.

Hi,
Today I was very happy as my hair is now a nice shade of brown:j , instead of the orange hue it had this morning:eek: ! I've also managed to get my 22 month old son to sit still whilst I cut his hair (saved me £5 at hairdressers). Managed to get some wild strawberries out of front garden (taste nice when the sun warms then up ,but OH wonders why I bother picking them) Also went to family pub with DS and OH for an hour.
Hope you have all had a good day.

Just to let you know that I managed to get it to a mid brown colour, which looks better than the orange shade I had this morning.A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0
