Rage_in_Eden wrote:right. I have just been reading the cleaning thread on here (y'know vinegar vinegar and, ahem, more vinegar). I am going to go home after my physio (neck and spine problems - inherited from Dad - Thanks Dad!) and physio permitting I will be sorting out my cleaning supplies cupboard. This was very neat but then OH said he couldn't find anything and I opened it and no wonder, everything he had used he'd just thrown back in so it was all over the place  - i despair :wall:
sooo, i need to sort it out, use it up and then replace with cheaper, greener and OS products. this does of course now mean i will be doing ALL the cleaning until I have trained OH - but at least it will be done properly
I use vinegar for some cleaning, stainless steel & lime scale mostly, but in the main I use diluted cheap bleach & diluted cheap all purpose in spray bottles & these cover just about every eventuality and are no worse for being diluted by about 40% water. Apart from dusting...anyone got any alternatives to furniture polish? Oh who am I kidding, I only dust once a week anyway:o How often do other old stylers dust? I keep thinking it should be more often as hubby is allergic to dust (but then who isn't?)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Now it's made me realise how much weight I am carrying around - if I lost 6 stones I would actually be the right weight for my height. Now I know what that amount of weight feels like I'm even more motivated to loose it!!!!
:T Keep carrying this amount home each week and you'll soon shift any extra weight, especially in this heat
I carried just over 1/2 that amount around backpaking for a fortnight and I lost 1/2 a stone (in 2 weeks) so it's not just saving you your taxi fare, it's saving you money on weight watchers because it'll just drop off you :j Unless you're like me, if I'd realised I carried that much I'd think I was entitled to a Magnum ice cream because it was so hot and I'd done so well :rotfl:When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Lillibet - if he can write his name in the dust then it will need doing.....sometime in the next month or two
Either that, or he'll have to do it:D
Seriously, I use a microfibre cloth and a spray bottle with water in it. If the cloth is just ever so slightly damp, it takes the dust off straight away and keeps it in the cloth. I do this at mum's too - only use a spritz of polish every so often so she thinks I'm 'pledging' everywhere. TBH - I don't notice any difference in the furniture, but do in the purseAs Kim and Aggie said once - we women love our polish, but as most wood is finished in some way, the polish won't sink in anyway.

So, the white vinegar thing....instead of conditioner? how much per wash?....see, I'm trying!!
I just use the cap from an old fabric conditioner bottle and use 1/2 to 1 full capful. Seems to work ok!Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

2 x apple pies
1 x tray of sticky gingerbread
1 x bacon quiche

I'm now off for a cool shower before the boys are home.

Mums, you've had a better OS day than me, 2 loads of washing + HM tea, that's pretty good going. :T
As for the vinegar in the wash thing, you can either just pour it neat into the fabric softner draw as a replacement or you can make your own fabric softner see HERE I think the softner is better than just vinegar IMHO, but it's down to preference really.
Did you know that in addition to keeping your clothes soft it is rumored to keep the washer cleaner and running for longer by reducing the amount of limescale clogging it up :beer:When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Groovy washing tip! Will give that a go.
Also could everyone please stop it with the apple pie! I am waiting for a Gallstone op so I can't eat anything but chicken! Damn bored of chicken!
But I do like dairy free ice cream! Is very nice and creamy
Mind you my boyfriend misses the cakes so every now and then I make him sticky gingerbread, banana cake, cookies etc.
Also has anyone ever heard of Rhubarb Grunt? Is a nice alternative to crumble, more pastry like... I have it in a Nigella book at home... yummyoooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -
