I love old cookery books, & am always on the lookout in charity shops, jumble sales... anywhere there is a pile of books really!
Busy day today, 2 lots of washing done, nearly finished painting table & chair set (ikea) for granddaughter's 1st birthday.
Helping doing the catering for a funeral, just about cleared up, back home for a little while, then back to church for children's club; 18 noisy, hyperactive happy children playing games, acting story then finish up with parachute game.
Back home in time to do late dinner of salad with jacket spuds & watch Greg Rusedski lose at wimbledon.....

    Hey Queenie!

Havent been able to use my right leg for past 2 days and today pain has gone into my hip  Its just the lupus but is really starting to p**s me off. 30 and cant bloody walk  So today I will be delegating the chores again for hubby-he must hate me by now..lol

Theres a washload done-needs hanging out, and another 2-3 to do. Pine cabinets need doing today with vinegar solution. Used to use polish and do them 2 times a week, now with the vinegar solution there done about every fortnight and fronts are just wiped weekly & look prestine :p Parcel being picked up by DHL for something sold on ebay (allday call, but cant go anywhwere anyway  ). Just general clear through of paperwork downstairs-I can do this :T and all light fittings, skirtings and covings wiped around!

Daughter has asked for either Toad In Hole or Shepards Pie for tea-nice and easy!

Got the cleaner coming tomorrow from agency-this will be 3rd week and not too impressed, but hubby helped her last week and managed to get a good clean-but annoying as hubby deserves a rest too!

    Have a great day!

    Morning

Taking DD to school today in her own clothes with bag of old-but-good-condition clothing for the summer fair a week on Saturday. I donated enough toys etc last week without donating all the clothing I've got so that will be ebayed instead.

Completely forgot that I need to go shopping today (weekly shop) as DD is off tomorrow so I can't put it off until then so the end of the ebay stuff will have to wait until either "rest time" or Monday morning.

Nothing else planned ATM apart from more laundry  Oh well, off to clean DD's teeth. Later.

QUOTE [talking of out of print books, I picked up a copy of "The American Frugal Housewife" and it's an amazing read.]

Be really OS and get this as a free ebook on project gutenberg at www.gutenberg.org (sorry can't work out how to do links). It's by Lydia Child.
:) If you hover over the gutenberg bit in your post you'll find that you've already done a link :)

To learn more about making links there's a section of our welcome sticky at the top of the board which takes you directly to the instructions on how to do links by sra, or you could follow the clue in my signature below :)

    Mornin' :j

Tidied the dressing table last night (as threatened) and found a few things I had been looking for for my old tootsies :o . anyway doing the bathroom tonight - although OH is at home he says he's "too busy" - yeah, right

On a good note I am now waiting for a full washer before I can do a load. sooo, this p.m. when it has colled down a bit (hopefully - it's boiling up here) when I finish work I can go and do some gardening (now la rodent mort is no longer with us)....... alternatively I have strawberries and wimbledon is on.....

Tea tonight will be HM quiche and whilst the oven is on I will make a sponge, a cherry cake and some tortilla chips....... but before then I suppose I'd better do the job I get paid for!

    Ta Ta!

But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    morning all :)

Sorry to hear the Lupus is bothersome today Penny-pincher, horrible illness.

I'm not very O/s today - working since 8am :) I have my porridge in with me ready to make in the microwave at breaktime though, rather than buying something expensive and unhealthy :D

Made Apple pie last night - a little too much pastry for the apple I think but it'll be fine with icecream and the pastry turned out really well (thanks to the food processor tip here!) so it's funky.

I made a kind of feta pasty with the left over pastry, so I'll see what that's like at tea time...

I was SO chuffed when I went shopping last night, I got loads of baking things and other neccessary storecupboard bits and pieces. Cost me about a third of what that much shopping has cost me previously :D

Planning to make brack from the Bero book tommorrow so I'll be soaking fruit when I get in tonight.

have a great O/s mse day all :)
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...

    Morning!

Whoa! Did my computer crash big style on Monday or what? I've been lost without it. At work I suffered a fatal hard drive failure last Thursday, and then the same thing happened at home on Monday. As I'm so paranoid, I'm convinced it's the one file I've accessed from both with a worm attached. But work has assured me that they'd know if there was a worm in the system, so I can sleep soundly. My desktop is now currently in Brum awaiting a visit to the life-time warranty doctor.

And how exactly did I manage to get credit for a brand new laptop? They should have a big alert on all of my credit references: DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARGEPOLE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. But I'm clearly a very good credit risk for them. Misterholic only "permitted" me to buy it so long as I took advantage of the 12 months interest free credit, and so long as I made sure I put enough away each month to clear it at the end of the 12 months. (The signs in PC World say 9 months, but now I'm a MSEr, I remembered to ask about 12 months.)

So my day so far has been spent creating recovery disks and bathing at the same time. I'm about to hang out washing.

Apologies for not being around, although it doesn't look as though I was missed. :(
