:T Well done on knuckling down to your Uni work dorry; it's hard to concentrate on the D-mands sometimes, but most especially when it's sooo hot and other things also need attention. Well done on your discipline!dorry wrote:btw queenie your 'me' shelf sounds good, but do tell, whats in your baskets??
A "me" shelf is a very individual, personal thing LOL insomuch that, it has to be treats that make *you* feel nurtured. It's soooo very easy to lose track of oneself when we have so many demands upon our time and energy.
I have put into mine:- a chill out CD (one I'd bought, never had time to listen/enjoy and had been stuffed away) ; some sample sachets that you get from magazines or the freebies forum (); a small Channel 5 body lotion; small scented candles; some incense cones; mini bottle of red wine (
) a book left to me by my mother of sayings and verse; a letter written to me by one of my older offspring (he'd kill me if I used the word "child") when he was 10yo; a blank journal which I may use for thoughts/ideas/my dreams when I take time out - basically, little things that will make me smile, make me feel special and touch all the senses. If I feel overwhelmed, overwrought, in need of a retreat, I can send myself to my room
The 2nd basket is a WIP (work in progress) but, when it's filled, I'll let you know~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I did!!! I got lost in real life LOL (thank you for yesterday's thread, I'm just catching up)
Rage - steal it or take it and mark it with "ME!" ... a me box is the most important accessory a woman must have! (Shame I didn't learn it years ago, LOL Still, better late than never)

Queenie thanks for the ideas - I know of a secondhand bookshop I spotted in 1999 and I STILL haven't managed to go in and look around
I'll have to try and get in there soon as cookery etc books in the charity shops are pretty slim pickings lately.
The "me shelf" sounds like a very good idea. I already have a box under my side of the bed which I use as a bedside table so I might have to add a few goodies too it now
Nothing much OS today as I've been really busy with ebay stuff. I should finally finish sorting out all the listing tomorrow morning so it will just be a case of uploading them hopefully. :j:j:j:jCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this thread, and having read what you've been up to, totally ashamed.
I've sat around all day really. Done some paperwork, but it wasn't taxing, been on 2 journeys to school, but let the local bakery and mcdonalds feed us today.
Tomorrow is another day though!
Got 3 school journeys (my 3 kids start and finish at different times cox 2 are inpre school), feel like making toad in the hole for tea, following a recipe I found on the site the other day, got some more paperwork to get through. Blimey, still doesn't sound like much does it?!! Still, looking after the kids and doing the laundry and tidying and pots and.......I'll fill the day. Who knows...might not have time to login tmrw. Well, it's got to happen one day!!lol

QUOTE [talking of out of print books, I picked up a copy of "The American Frugal Housewife" and it's an amazing read.]
Be really OS and get this as a free ebook on project gutenberg at www.gutenberg.org (sorry can't work out how to do links). It's by Lydia Child.0 -
Good point sleepless saver!
However, speaking on a personal level () I would find it nigh on impossible to cart my PC into the bath with me when I want to relax and have a read, or even my bed (which is where I do most of my own reading) ... to print it out would require paper/ink that would still cost me far more than the 20p I paid for it in the 2nd hand bookshop
LOL
