Oh and my Runner Beans finally came up this morning! I was getting a bit worried.

We only have a back yard so I planted them in the wooden containers we have amongsted some flowers, should add some height to our little "garden" and lovely beans at the end of it Mmmmmm.

splendid :D I do like to be a trend setter...

Anyone care to join me in rhubarb crumble as well? (I've got some HM crumble defrosting in the fridge as I type, having been asked politely by a friend if he could visit me and eat it :D )

I've got LOADS of rhubard crumble. Well, rhubarb and strawberry actually (from our recipes collection) and they're a match made in heaven. And when served with a lemon sauce (also in the collection) it's paradise in a dish :)

Nothing very OS as yet today, took ds to his piano lesson this morning & took scenic route back as its such a lovely day. (It's 16 miles away, through country lanes)
We had a cup of tea each & some lidl raspberry jaffa cakes. I have done the last of the painting on granddaughter's table & chair, and am now sitting here typing when I should be tackling the dishwasher & other housework.

Up early to give the veg patch a quick water before it gets too hot.

Popped out to the shops and FINALLY managed to get a bottle of white vinegar - In Budgens. So now looking forward to doing lots of OS cleaning.

In a minute I'm off to make a big pot of tomato soup, some for lunch and the rest for the freezer.

No cooking tonight, as the mystery shopping work involves having a meal out.

    Oh YYYYYUUUUUMMMMMM

Rhubarb and strawberry crumble. My absolute fave (along with plum or gooseberry crumble) Trouble is, I don't think I have any rhubarb. My next door neighbour used to give me some, but she's moved and the new peeps don't/have got rid of it. Must politely ask if they still have it........:D

Not a fan of plain apple pie, but don't mind it mixed with other fruits. Wonder if apple and strawberry would be nice? I too have some pastry residing in my freezer.

Thinking about doing something with chicken for tea - but as I had a late start and have just returned from taking DS2 to his swimming lesson, nothing's out of the freezer and I still have to shower and wash my hair (it's a mum and toddler lesson so I have to be ceremoniously drowned by said child :D) I seem to be turning into a childminder. My current after school charge is being joined by his brother in Sept and I now have someone else wanting care for her 2. Six kids at the dinner table - haven't told Mr TM yet.:shhh:

However, I seem to have spread the Ol'Style message a bit. My friend told me yesterday that she has bought a slow cooker and loves it. The swimming teacher is also impressed with the white vinegar in the wash trick, so we'll see how it goes.

Have a lovely day and hugs to those of you out there who are feeling ill or in pain.

Just about to hang out 2nd load of washing, have used up my first bottle of white vinegar and I am very impressed as towels are now much softer. Have cleaned the bathroom down but with bleach as I forgot about using vinegar for that :o It now smells like the local swimming pool! Now going to make lunch (Home made coleslaw in a wrap) and then make some more yogurt. Oh and some ice cream too - think we are going to need that today!

I had REALLY good intentions for today. I was going to get loads done.

But then I witnessed a brill sight...one of my fishes gave birth to 18 live babies. She took a couple of hours, and of course I had to watch in case she needed me:rolleyes: . I had to video some births for DS1 (9) to watch later, so I had to download the footage and watch it to make sure it was okay quality:rolleyes:

Oh, who am I kidding, I'm a failure at this OS business!!! I've done a couple of loads of washing (using detergent and conditioner ), made 2 trips so far to school (using the car) and hung about on the site!

So, the white vinegar thing....instead of conditioner? how much per wash?....see, I'm trying!!

Edit: home made tea tonight...toad int he hole using someone's recipe I found in OS!!Thanks!!

right. I have just been reading the cleaning thread on here (y'know vinegar vinegar and, ahem, more vinegar). I am going to go home after my physio (neck and spine problems - inherited from Dad - Thanks Dad!) and physio permitting I will be sorting out my cleaning supplies cupboard. This was very neat but then OH said he couldn't find anything and I opened it and no wonder, everything he had used he'd just thrown back in so it was all over the place  - i despair :wall:

sooo, i need to sort it out, use it up and then replace with cheaper, greener and OS products. this does of course now mean i will be doing ALL the cleaning until I have trained OH - but at least it will be done properly ;)
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Well the shopping went well I guess, £36.44 which puts me over the target I set for myself this month, but still under last months total :p I guess thats acceptable as I had forgotten there is 5 Thursdays in this month instead of just 4 which is what I based my budget on :rotfl:I do have to say though that according to my Asda bill I bought 50 items :
    - 2 tins of fish (1 pink salmon & 1 crab meat) which is a start on my healthier eating plan as I'm NOT a fish person, except for prawns, tinned tuna, smoked salmon and cod, unless it's in batter/breadcrumbs
    - SP Lemonade to pad out the HM lemonade (from the recipe thread) which I made last night
    - Mayo, ketchup, jam
    - toiletries
    - 2kg spread
    - soda crystals
    - baked beans
    - 1kg cheese & 3 packs of SP thin sliced ham which works out cheaper than buying the big pack of sandwich ham I usually buy as OH keeps leaving it out over night (when he goes to bed after me) so it's going off quicker
    - parmesan - the big tub from the chiller as we go through so much
    - pepper & reduced-to-clear 3 pack OXO (OXO with "The Incredibles" on it - reduced to 70p )
    - Resealable frezer bags
    - SP Salt (1kg)
    - SP Jelly - for quick puddings/treats
    - Bag of mixed fruit for baking/snacking
    - 3 loaves of SP bread
    and wait for it :
    - white cabbage
    - SP Melon
    - Watermelon
    - SP Apples - red
    - 1kg carrots
    - SP Bananas x 2
    - Whole cucumber
    - Large Pineapple
    - Garden Gang citrus (clementines?)
    - SP pears
    - Spinach (DD asked yesterday why we weren't growing any  so I bought some until I get some seeds etc)
    - 13 loose tomatoes (had 2 in the fridge)
    - 2 red grapfruit
    - punnet of kiwis
    - 8 loose Golden Delicious apples
    - Strawberries (ours aren't big enough yet to do ANYTHING)
    - Chives - plant to go in the garden
    - Basil - As above
    - Thyme - as above

I then carried it home in two carrier bags (one on my shoulder as it has really long handles), a rucksack and a shopping trolley. The taxis in the rank were looking very tempting indeed but I just kept on walking as best I could. It took me 30 minutes to walk home as I had to keep stopping to swap bags and trolley around, it usually takes me 10 minutes, 15 at the most. Just out of curiosity when I got home I weighed everything (found that some items were actually under the weight stated on the packet but only by a few grams) then added it all up. Excluding the trolley and bags themselves I just carried home OVER 40280g = 40.28 kilograms = 88.8021992 pounds = 6.34301423 stone :eek::eek::eek::eek: I didn't think it was that much! Now it's made me realise how much weight I am carrying around - if I lost 6 stones I would actually be the right weight for my height. Now I know what that amount of weight feels like I'm even more motivated to loose it!!!!

Since then I've been out and picked up DD from nursery and took her to the Co-op where we spent just over £3 on ice-cream to put in the freezer (Kind of ironic when I want to loose weight :rotfl:) so that came out of PIN money as a treat. Beside which thats how much it would have cost me to get a taxi home and I think the money is much better spent this way :D

Johanne has just been around to see us and while she was here I did 1 load of laundry. I've just put it out on the line and now I'm off to put a second load in. I've also already done one batch of dishes so I'm going to dry them (if they're not already air dried) and do another. One thing I've learnt about OS cooking it creates alot more washing up
