Good morning. It's half past nine & I'm not dressed yet, although have done the washing, put it out (& then taken it back in a couple of hours later cos of some strange alien precipitation stuff, I think they call it rain)
Dishwasher emptied & reloaded, dh packed off to work with salad lunch, yesterdays laundry sorted but not yet put away. Emails mostly read & dealt with.
Must get showered & dressed soon!
Plans for the day include finishing adjusting the blinds to new conservatory.
Assembling child's table & chair set from Ikea we have bought for granddaughter's first birthday.
Organising dinner (toad in the hole tonight, with veg from the farmers market yesterday.)
Making sure ds actually gets on with some work, he is home educated & is taking advantage of the fact that I am here to watch a documentary on TV, but needs to do some other stuff as well.
Need to clean bathroom. Queenie, I see you have the bathmats in the wash. That would have been my next task but need better weather as they take hours to tumble dry.
Ds has put the dustbin out, it's non-recyclables week (black bin) so no sorting and bagging to do!
I am very tired (hence too lazy to get dressed yet!) due to stress-induced throat infection & being unable to sleep much for the past few nights.
Oh well, all part of the rich pattern of life!

    Raining :(
so only managed half an hour in the garden this morning.
    Cleaned the kitchen though.
Yesterday I got 2 large balls of wool from the charity shop for £2 each. One looks like shetland wool and is on a cone and the other looks like sock wool.
Anyone know how much the empty cones weigh? That way I can work out exactly how much wool is there.Looks like enough for a shetland jumper :)
My old knitted jumper is finally looking past its best. The cat got his claws stuck in the sleeve and has left a large hole so I might spend part of the day unravelling the wool to reknit.I have had it for about 12 years so its done very well really.

    Good morning peeps.

Well, my day has started rather late today. I got back from Holland last night and was absolutely shattered. So I had a nice lie in this morning, am about to have a nice long hot soak, and am psyching up for my first walk to the next village. I did a lot of walking in Holland (that's probably part of why I'm so tired today) and managed to lose 3lb.

I'll see how the walk goes and what shops they have there - I know they have a Quicksave, which will no doubt soon be a Somerfield - and then I'll decide whether to get a shopping trolley and make the walk twice per week (Wednesdays and Saturdays).

The station takes some folk between 20 and 25 minutes to walk there, and I'm not going as far as the station. It is raining, though, and too windy for a brolly.

Another option would be to convert it to a tabard.

Take the sleeves off, and then a double line of stitching on some 1 in (2.5cm) tape up each side.

Then cut between the lines of stitching.

Use another piece of tape now folded over the cut and the first tape to make a nice edged seam.

Edinburghlass - yes, I am currently in training for my trek!

This weekend I am off to Glen Coe to get some hard core training in place. Fingers crossed that the weather brightens up, otherwise I'll get soaked. Also doing the trip in an old-style manner as staying with parents just down the road instead of a B&B!

I also have plans to climb Ben Lomond near Glasgow, but unfortunately that might clash with the coldplay concert, and I know which one I would rather do! :ROTFL:

Edinburgh is a good starting point for training though as Arthurs seat is great for an after work jaunt and the pentlands are so close. If only the rain would stop................ :(

just sitting down to a slice of one of my large homemade scones with spread and seedless Raspberry jam  and a cup of tea made with a value teabag and the milk DD left at breakfast time.

So far I have turned down both beds rather than making them so that they can air properly, school run, stood at the kitchen window for about 15 minutes watching the blue tits on the bag of nuts flitting back and forth to their young *awww* and took some photos using OH's camera as I want to know what the film has been used for! I think it was Christmas but I can't be sure

I'll put some bedding in to wash when DD gets home from nursery as it's currently teaming down here so pointless washing it now, plus it means if DD's sweatshirt is dirty I can throw that in the washer as well ;)

Last night I planted out 15 tomato plants, staked and "bottled" them (I cut my bottles into rings rather than just in half so that I can get more per bottle and also because I keep my seedlings/plants on the windowsil in the kitchen until they HAVE to go out). I now need to find homes for the other 35 :doh:If the weather improves enough I'm hoping to put out my radish seedlings (not too worried if the birds get them as there are so many!) and I'm going to try putting out some parsnip ones along the back wall which I soon won't be able to get into easily because of the tomato plants so that they can grow away happily.

I need to find some sort of liner for a milk crate I found on Monday on the way to pick DD up. I don't know what the other parents must have thought when I picked it up :rotfl:I'm planning on planting my strawberries in it as I have loads of them.

While I'm at it - does anyone have any recipes for radish that would be for a non-radish-lover ? One of these days I'll rememer OH's likes and dislikes when it comes to food :o BTW, Johanne I already am planning on giving some to dad - at least it will save mum buying them when he's the only one in the house who really likes them ;):D
