:hello: Welcome home Spendy
Chipps - I've had to bring mine in (drizzling out) but they are *almost* dry ... I've put them in the airing cupboard on hangers to air off. Hope you feel fully better soon!
culpepper - no idea how much the empty cone weighs
An alternative might be (if you have the patience!) rewind the wool onto something else and weigh it?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've managed to achieve absolutly nothing so far today!! Mind you I am working today (2 little charges who are both currently asleep) so don't expect to get much done. I did make a chicken and veg soup last night and stuck it in the fridge for tonight so I don't even have to worry about tea, I'll just stick the bread machine on in a bit and have a coffee while the going's good.
Will be making fathers day cards this afternoon with the little ones so I suppose that counts"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
morning all!
I am glad the U2 concert went so well apple-mint.
Spendaholic - congratulations on all your walking. I think it's a great way to get fit and healthy. keep up the good work!
last night I tidied the house and cleaned the kitchen floor. I also made another batch of flapjacks - and ate a few as well........Yum!
A friend was meant to come over for dinner, but couldn't make it so left with lots of yummy salad things for lunch and dinner tonight. It's sort of scuppered my meal plan as I am away on friday for a long weekend to my parents so might end up taking half my fridge with me!
Tonight's plan so far involves meeting a *friend* for a drink after work. That could mean I get home at a decent time and can make some greetings cards (why do so many people have babies at this time of year lol) or it could mean staggering home and straight into bed :rotfl:
r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
THere is only one response to that :

I am so impressed with you all on this board. It is amazing how (for the want of a better work) proactive you all are, all of these projects, homemade goodies & bread machines (i want one, am feeling left out). Your lives all seem a lot more exciting & busy than mine, its all just work, work, work for me :0(
I just wanted to say how inspirational you all are.

I've had a baking day today! When it's dark and rainy outside there is nothing better than the smell of cakes cooking or nearly burning in my case! when will I get the hang of this new oven? I have to turn it down by at least 10 degrees on the recommended recipe temp! Sorry I am trying to be patient with it! Anyway I have 2 banana and choc chip loaves, 2 doz golden oats cookies (tho one batch slightly more crispy than desired) and a loaf of granary bread. Washing is drying indoors on airers and hangers - I'm too mean to put the dryer on!
Now to put some chicken pieces on in the slow cooker ready for my return from work.
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Hiya everyone.
Had to take DS1 to school - I'd forgotten what it was like actually having to get dressed first thing (he usually gets picked up and I do evening run). Had to spend quite a lot of time on PC - printing out assignments and then on phone, doing them. Also got slow cooker on - saus casserole tonight. Let DS2 make his own lunch - he ate it all, but there's a bit of a mess in kitchenWe also did painting this morning - how brave am I? We were in his bedroom, but that's why I kept the old placcy tablecloth - covers lots of floor
Tonight, it's DS1's first proper Beavers meeting so will have to go and book him in. His friend's mum will be coming back for a cuppa as the hall is only about 200 yds away. That'll mean DS2 and her DS2 will be undoing all the cleaning I'm about to do. (Why bother, I'm thinking, but then "it's standards, you know.... Standards"
Off to put washing on, sort more out, and start on the mess that is downstairs. Kids, eh! Who'd 'ave 'em !0 -
Had a slight change of plan .. the garden is taking a shower, so I thought I'd put off giving it a hair cut
When I was measuring the Utility Room, I located some *lost* odd socks ... the matching *pairs* have been used as dusters already... sooooooo, with the menfolk packing their cases tomorrow - I'm using the newest odd socks to make up some Shoe Stuffers ......
..... part filled the socks with some cat litter - odour absorbing- secured the ankle with elastic bands and tied some cording around the tops for effect LOL They can tuck those into their trainers during transit.
Once that's all in, I can do the library run and drive passed the school on the way back~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
