This is brilliant - can any one join in? Have been a fan of Martin for a while, thanks to Jeremy Vine show but didn't know about web site until I got his book out of the library. I feel like I have come home! My mom was the queen of all money savers and I hope I have followed in her footsteps (but I never will be as good as her) I had a good shop at Tesco today - my fridge is awash with blue and red thanks to all the saver lines I bought. Husband def. not a money saver so it isa great to read about like minded people.0

Wooohoooooo!!!! :T :T :T Well done to YOU!! Sounds like an excellent money saving and OS day all round.
You may join in *every* day, remember: "It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it ... "(Bananarama, circa: 1980's )
Those curtains were a stonking bargain!
I must admit, I've never used embroidery thread for taking up an item of clothing before, but it's sounds very interesting, great way of getting more wear and tear out of something at half the price too
We don't have a "Bodycare" store here afaik .. but well done on those bargains.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

for all of you off to a gig anytime soon (i have U2 and rem within 10 days of each other
)most places will let you take in bottles of non-alcoholic beverages, but WILL take the lids off you. the main reason being safety - people are much less likely to use them as missiles.
to avoid having to down/abandon the drink and then shell out on overpriced stadium stuff, smuggle in a pop bottle lid (or similar) in your pocket. other than a quick pat down, they never search people too thoroughly, and so you can make the most of your drink :money:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Oooh, that's excellent advice p_d ... (far better than my own thoughts of a HM colostomy bag
) Hope you have fun at your two concerts - greedy thing!

Hi all, thought I would post my day. Started off with sheets on the line, then went to the gym for legs, bums & tums workout with one months membership for 2 bought with Nectar points. Went to see bank manager to try and sort out finances & pension. When I came back roasted large chicken which serves 6/8 bought at Sainsbury half price for £2.99 (bought x 4). Roast potatoes which were reduced to 20p a bag, carrots and cauli. Afters was clementines at reduced price of 20p a bag (bought 3 bags) & yoghurt BOGOF. Also cooked rhubarb from allotment. I work evenings so went to my appointment at 5:30pm and on the way home stopped at Sainsbury. Bought 3 punnets of peaches, reduced to 20p a punnet. 3 x begonias in basket with bow reduced to 99p each. Sister's birthday Friday & 2 for me. 2 loaves reduced to 15p each and some surgar to make jam (when I find a recipe).0

not really ever able to join in this discussion as im a 19 yr old who lives at home so my mum does most of the householdy things (especially cos i work nights).. but it was my day off yesterday and my mum was ill in bed so i took charge! hehe
Went off into work(Tesco) to see my manager over my *hopeful* promotion.. while i was there i picked up something for tea...
2 chinese meals (£2.27 each or 2 for £4) - saving of 54p
pack of 4 spring rolls (price marked 93p- scanned at 79p!! ) - saving of 14p
packet of prawn crackers - (65p)
Egg fried rice - (£1.11)
Total cost £6.55
We usually have "takeaway night" on a tue i have the price list for our local chip shop we usually go to here and the above would have cost:
2 chinese meals - £8.40
4 spring rolls - £1.60
prawn crackers - £0.80
Egg fried rice - £1.80
Total cost £12.60
Saving least £6.50!:j
I then went down the road and picked up some more goodies from our local Iceland... including a huuuge pack of fresh chicken legs and thighs reduced to only £1.69! So came home and froze them for use later in the week. Some real bargains in Iceland at the moment! :j
Then while i was on a roll... i dug out the flour etc from the cupboard and following 2 of the recipes on here and one in an old cookbook of mums i managed to make some scones, some shortbread and some choc chip cookies!Everyone thinks they taste yummy too! including my fussy 12 yr old brother
:j
So quite a productive day yesterday... :T0 -
'morning Queenie
Slow start for me this morning ... just reading your day makes me flag
The girls loved the U2 concert last night, the group was on from 8 until 10.30. We heard a good deal of it from outside as we walked around and at one stage we were sat just outside entrance P1 and got fantastic acoustics. Also a couple of good support acts ... Snow Patrol and The Bravest. So both daughters were in seventh heaven.
We took a wonder around Asda (just opposite the stadium) to while away some of the time and I got a baking sheet for half price. I know, sad. All the way to Manchester and I still look for bargains!
Today we have been invited out for lunch (visiting a friend) ... so I don't have to cook at lunch time. Thawing out some salmon pieces for tea time (I'll pop them in the oven with a little home made yoghurt poured over and sprinked with fish seasoning).
I think today is going to be a chill out day, given we didn't get in until 1 am.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
:T Excellent day! :T :T Bet your mum is well pleased
Hope mum feels better very soon.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
