Washing machines been on since the crack of dawn, thought i'd take advantage of the blustery bright day (although it's looking more and more like rain as I type!!)
Am on a bit of a mission at the moment, aiming to do a boot fair in September, our village do a safari style one, you all set up on your drives and people go to the village hall and buy a map of the area with all the sales marked on, great idea as you don't have to get up at some unearthly hour to set up! I'm aiming to sell lots of homemade cards and spent all day friday knocking some up (thanks to all the freebie samples of stickers and cards I've managed to stash) I'm saving jars to make some bath salts and will get the sewing machine out later to make up some lavender bags and some heatable wheat bags. I've got lots of other bits to sell too that are too big to ebay, but am having such a clear out it's untrue. I think going on holiday a few weeks ago made me realise how much easier my life would be if we didn't have so much "stuff". I want to put the money towards Christmas, I've got birthday pressies sorted for everyone (thank god for the sales in january) and have already managed to build up a bag of "stocking fillers".
The aim for this afternoon then is - lavender bags, wheat bags, sort out the airing cupboard, whack some flour in the bread maker for tea and attack the ironing, got some plants that need repotting too.....the list goes on..."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Had to share it here, because no one else will be excited - I made my first from-scratch pizza!!!!!!!!!! Last night. It was absolutely fabulous! And the dough recipe was huge, so I have six more rolled out bases in the freezer. I REALLY hope they're going to work okay after that. I was going to pre-cook them, but they turned out so well cooked from raw with the topping on. Used the machine to make the dough (2/3 wholewheat), did the rest myself. My boyfriend, who's not a pizza fan, declared them "absolutely gorgeous!", and said it's far and away the best pizza he's ever had. I was SO chuffed! :j I know I can cook, but the fact that this was something new for me was wonderful!
Back-breaking weekend of digging tree roots out of tomato bed and lining it with plastic. Garden under seige from seagulls who have flattened my rocket seedlings this weekend. Idiot things seemed to be trying to get to my tomato plants, which are inside the kitchen. They bang on the window so loud I thought it was my upstairs neighbour bashing on a plastic bin or something. So need to get some duff CDs to deter the said flying rats.
Old style job this week is to track down a sewing machine manual for the machine I have sitting, un-used in a cupboard. I've never used one, but there are SO many things I want to make!!!0 -

I've never even considered buying a ready made one again since my first ever home made effort.

Not so much an OS day as a bargain day so far - bought a new watch as the old one was beyond repair: horribly scratched, dead battery, clasp broken etc, but Index have a closing down sale on, so got a beautiful new watch at a fraction of the price.
Then onto WH Smith where I got some books all on offer - love my reading so makes a nice change to have cheap new books rather than cheap 2nd hand, and these will provide cheap entertainment on my $45 holiday to France in 2 weeks........
Then on to Wilkinsons where I got 2 bedside lamps and an uplighter for my do-up-the-bedroom-on-the-cheap project for £13 (also using the £1 off when you spend £10 voucher).
HOORAY! What a good day for bargains.
Off now to have a scratch lunch of what I can find lurking in the cupboards, then on with the washing machine and iron (Boo)."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

Thanks Squeaky - I certainly will be!! The only ready-made pizzas I have been having is the odd assembled one from Asda when a friend and I meet up at her place...but of COURSE these surpassed those!! We've never had pizza at home because I've known it's not a favourite of my boyriend's, but now, it appears, it is!!!
I'm so pleased, the things he never thought he liked until he met me: macaroni cheese (now one of his favourites), rice pudding, rhubarb crumble, shepherd's pie...now pizza! He's not a fussy eater at all, just had had horrible versions of these things in the past! I like to think I'm a good cook!... (insert smilie of me polishing my badge!)0 -
Ah this all sounds so much fun ...... Last week was a week's holiday for me so I spent the time baking and cooking (freezer now full), sewing and home admin. Also helped OH do some gardening as our garden is a bomb site thanks to builders ..... planted all the tubs up in the front - now for the back. Not cutting back the damson or apple trees until after they have fruited - finally got that through to OH  also went for a day out to fountains abbey on the friday with a completely homemade picnic - very OS. well, i was having the week off for our wedding anniversary......
so now I am back at work doing a, horror, FULL DAY! busy typing (or not if I'm on here) but once today is out of the way it's a bit of an easy ride with only wed as a full day and the rest of the week finish at 2. Enjoy your day - I am very enviousBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -

My son spent some time in Falmouth as a student and like everyone else in the town, developed a healthy hatred for the aforesaid flying rats! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

So far OH up and out to work with a homemade lunch (sandwiches and fruit), DD off to nursery, load of washing, 10 items added to Turbo lister for ebay, DD picked up, washing hung up in bedroom on curtain rail above heater to dry as weather is awful, another load in, sandwich and fruit for DD's lunch, 3 more long/complex-to-discribe items for ebay typed up, another load of washing now drying (including the bedding that the bird got on Saturday ) and third lot in. We have £15 on the gas meter so I'm not too worried about the cost of having the heaters on as we're getting the meters changed to quarterly, if British Gas ever get back to us, and I can always put £5 on if we really really need it
In the middle of sorting out the photographs for ebay, I wasn't able to concentrate very well so needed a break, mind you having "Muppets Treasure Island" on in the background and the washing machine going as well doesn't exactly help. So far there are 35 items typed up. Still dozens to go :wall:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
The day's half over now, but I had to work this morning 8:00-1:00. Got some washing out before I left - it's dry now and another lot whirring round the machine as I write (the last spin is my signal to get off the computer
). When that's put out I'm off to Lidl 'cos I think they've got some cheapo water filter thingies which will fill (I hope) the Brita jug. Will also have a nose around at other things there as well (trying to remember what peeps on here have said are the best!). Then get meal (not decided what yet). Damn, the washing's ready to go out!
