Why would you think that, does the friend have secrets that interesting, it would make good reading on a Saturday afternoon  😁

Google indicates the salary of a construction manager/etc to be 45k-ish, combine that with a touch of credit cards, loans, and gambling (if winning), that makes for a nice monthly income - if you're childfree.
We have 2 children he’s ground worker not manager.

Perfect example today: he said let’s upgrade your engagement ring from the £650 ring to a £4,500 ring. And I’ve just been given a 0.80CT highest spec thing GIA I think it’s called.
GIA is the Gemological Institute of America. They provide an appraisal service for precious stones. Diamonds appraised by the GIA have a laser serial number marked on them, and a certificate that records the serial number and all the different qualities of the diamond that have been measured during appraisal; cut, clarity, colour, etc.  A 0.8CT diamond rings costing £4,500 will be a very fine diamond. I would put the certificate in a safe place and wear the ring while you can.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • Please don’t take this the wrong way but the only person who knows is your husband. We can speculate all we want on here (but don’t know how much help that would be). It might be nothing but who knows? Will he seriously not just tell you?

Many thanks, yes I can see it cost him £4,500. On the certificate everything says excellent on cut clarity etc, compare to my old Argos ring it’s like having a micra and upgrading to Bentley.

So you only think he’s not a dealer because he doesn’t go out without you, not because you think he wouldn’t because he’s one of the good guys, but you do think he might be a blackmailer?

Interesting perspective on your marriage there.

However unless you are out with him all the time he’s working that gives about 40 hours a week to do whatever. He’s not talking about buying an ice cream van as a sideline by any chance?
Or maybe he’s managed to unearth the next Staffordshire Hoard? You don’t seem to be perturbed enough to decline all the goodies that are coming your way until you get a proper answer.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Funnily enough, no. He just wants the best to us I think because he’s working harder than ever he wants to match to his best friend who sold his company however he still relates to it as theirs.

    Bank slips show normal salary.
