NST September 2020: the turtles do the Hokey Cokey

Toni'sfriend - one of our local charity shops welcomes plastic bags as they have to pay for them too, if a customer does not have their own bag to put things in. Other cs may welcome them but this one put a notice in their window asking for them. I use bags for life but some deliveries insist on putting them in bags. Some SM offered to take them all back once 'this is all over' but not sure what stage they are at now - I know at least one delivery driver isn't allowed to touch our bags (I've been getting him to put bagged things in a box and then I take them out afterwards, taking them inside in my own bags). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6

Thanks, Mothernerd. I had thought about asking the charity shops and also the local food bank but I'm avoiding going into the local shopping area just now. I've got them in boxes at the moment so I'll do that when I start getting out and about.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6

Some supermarkets will recycle them for you if they are beyond re-use. My dad had kept so many plastic bags and they were mostly too grimy to use again. However, if you aren't going out, maybe you could ask other people if they know.

Hi everyone
Had two days of small spends and a couple of bargains from supermarket of a blouse and cardi that I needed and not wanted! (I have lost weight and have very few winter clothes now, so really pleased and they were really cheap!). Been out a couple of times with dd and enjoyed cuddles from youngest dgs, so that's one of my gratitudes the other two are fine weather so I can hang my washing outside and being able to have a lie in when Im not feeling A1.
Not a lot has been happening, Im picking plenty of toms at the lottie and also turnips and I still have a few courgettes still coming! I have quite a few jobs down there to do over winter, lots a clearing and burning to clear some more patches for next year. I enjoy being down there as theres not pressure to complete everything in one go and I can make myself a coffee and have a sit down if I need one! Im also planning on what to grow next year as I have to stop growing for other people and think of what I will eat!
Anyway that's it for now, washing machine has just finished, sun is still out so off to get it on the line! Have a good day everyone.

lcc86 glad you have taken the moaning batton on from me hehe.Yesterday I managed a NSD all cheer this is the 2nd one this month. I need milk today so might as well buy some bread whilst out there.Had a lovely walk along the beach yesterday, some guy asked me to take photos of him by the sea. Not sure if handling phones fit in with covid restrictions but didn't really give it a second thought at the time. He had driven here from Manchester 2hrs journey and never in my life seen anyone so excited to see the sea. Took a few and he was already sending them to his mother in North Africa. Made me realise I live in the most perfect location, mountains and sea nearby and take it for granted. Really made me smile, his reactions were incredible.Grateful forAnother day in office aloneLiving in a coastal townWeekend planning trip with grandkids , butterflies, small animals and hopefully sunshine.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/227

Tired but happy (except for trying not to shout at mum). Have scrubbed the base of the shower and the bathroom floor (with a pause in between), ate according to which items were taking up most space in the fridge or freezer (so I can squeeze more or the cooked stuff in - mum still has a cold dragging on and hasn't felt like eating much). In between I've taken in 3 deliveries (all stuff I ordered earlier in the week), including one item which is a present (mum pulled a face because it is not a hedgehog - I tried for a scotty dog or reindeer but ended up with the sheep). She has no idea what shopping is like at all - I saw two hegdehogs, one like mum's but second hand and really tatty and another that was completely different.
I had a delivery yesterday, bulky plant pots reduced to 2 pounds each and a number of small diy items, which came in two large boxes so have cut one box into sides to make tiers in the cupboard. Have taken down the top layers (all done with 12 and 6 can pieces of card), emptied them into 3 bags for life and used one large cardboard to take them all (much more secure than little bits) and a few items into the kitchen cupboard. Have emptied two of my cube boxes and hit on a way of storing cereal bars which meant the small boxes could all go in the recycling. Feeling so overwhelmed being surrounded by stuff (mostly useful but includes a lot of stuff that was in the shed and 14 plants from the polytunnel - 3 have been emptied and there are two more in the front room and one in the kitchen).
I'm going to bite the bullet and send for a lot of link-a-bord stuff. I will be paying for it initially (hoping mum will see it as a sensible option once it's in place but will have it as my 'save the elf' present if not). I really can't get down on the ground to garden - it takes forever to get down and back up and I can't stay down for long before the pain becomes excruciating. Even raising everything 1' makes it so much easier, alternating sitting and standing to work on the beds. Have nearly done all my sums to ensure I have everything covered - because DS3 has paid me his household contribution until May 20th, I will be running a small monthly deficit (more if I start a proper savings scheme) so need to leave enough money in the bank to cover that.
I'm rested now so must go and do something else. I am grateful for imagination (planning to make seed house with various broken/ surplus items until I can get the polytunnel up and running again - cheapest new tunnel was only 20 pounds more than a replacement cover but I really covet the 3m x 6m one). Grateful for no rain and for finally being near (very very near) to completion on the first sampler. Planning to do something simple for a few days.

Today I am grateful for dd's friends for her to talk to, for a relaxing day, for free online yoga, for dry weather to dry the washing outside, for a comfy bed, for aldee being open again so that I can get my fix of 85% choc!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Friday- quick check in before bed, still on NSD 7/15, small spend only today. Early finish from work and had great plans, but a splitting headache meant I actually did very little- did walk the dog and collect DD from school so at least managed the basics! A couple more items given to my friend from work- so her kitchen is benefiting from my decluttering. Also managed to throw a few items in a bin bag- partly so I wouldn't have to report here a zero progress day 😂.
Gratitudes- small steps despite not feeling great, pony cuddles, meeting up with a couple of family members earlier in the week- new restrictions mean it's unlikely I will see them again (at least not together) for another few weeks.

NSD No 8 yesterday.
Food delivery arrived so we have everything we need for a while.
Did another bit of tidying out of the cupboard but it was so wet I couldn't even get out to the bin. It's upstairs waiting to be taken out if the rain ever stops. It's still raining and it's very, very heavy. Hope Himself doesn't come across it. Started a box of things to take with us on holiday if they don't bring in any further restrictions. Must start on getting the packing together.
Have a good weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -
Morning everyone!
Thursday was NSD 3. this is the first week in forever that I’ve properly budgeted for food and meal planned. Long may it continue. Today and tomorrow probably won’t be NSD as I have a few small spends planned, some herbs for the balcony and stationery for back to work.
Heard news that my client from last year is continuing with classes but starting 2 weeks late end of Sept so just waiting on confirmation of the hours…Last year I had a huge amount of hours (which has allowed me to save and avoid disaster when I lost my hours due to covid) but this may be reduced this year so will wait until I have confirmation before I celebrate. I have promised bf I’ll buy us a meal if so.
If my hours are confirmed it means me and bf both teaching online from home which is a pain as we need to be in separate rooms and we only have 1 bedroom. I’ve heard of some bargains to be had for 2 bed flats in the centre of Madrid going for €800 p/m, so going to have a nosy today. It would be great to have a little office to work from. Also I'll need to buy a desk if I'm having to work from home.
Hope all the turtles have a fantastic weekend!!
