NST September 2020: the turtles do the Hokey Cokey

Sunday- NSD 8/15, went for a walk with DD and dog, but otherwise not much exercise.
We have however done some more decluttering and sorting- a big bag of "garden/outside toys" for a friends son in my car to be delivered tomorrow, a sandpit, bookcase and bedside table in the trailer for the skip, a suitcase packed with summer clothes, some DVDs in the charity shop box and a lot of dog hair hoovered up from where the bookcase was.
Gratitudes- fun playing card games with DD, more tomatoes turning red, enough progress in the "preparation for moving" that I am beginning to see a very small glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel!

Health
Exercise good for last week - f1tb1t shows over 7.5hours with 87.5k steps for the weekFood was good until the weekend - when I fell face first into orange choc buttons, orange choc biscuits, an orange c1ub biscuit (am sensing a theme....) and a LOT of jaffa cakes! Ooops...... Still - my work clothes all fit nicely/ are slightly too loose now - which is a big improvement on don't fit at all/ fit but I am squeezed in and they are tight - which is what they were at start of the year
Wealth
We have discovered we have a wet issue - it appears there has been a steady trickle of water from the boys' bathroom every time they have a shower - over the edge of the bath, onto the floor where it runs under the edge and down the soil stack bit - the boxing for which is at the edge of the dining room downstairs and black mould has appeared under the wallpaper covering the box. There is a small damp patch on the lounge ceiling, too. I am wondering if it counts as escape of water under insurance at all.... looks like bathroom may need totalling ripping out with new floorboards and obv decoration downstairs and mould treating/ some drying out required. Sigh........ no idea how long it has been going on
DH's car had its MOT and passed but also had a full service so the bill was £350. ALso had some advisories - £450 worth of work to be done soon.....
Life well lived
Took advantage of the lovely weekend weather for a bbq yesterdayI assume it will be the last one of the year, so bbq has been totally stripped and thoroughly cleaned and will be heading back to the garage to live for the Winter. I've also taken advantage of the lovely weather today to wash all the garden chair cushions - they are currently drying on the line and will be wrapped up and going to live in the shed for the Winter
Gratitudes
gorgeous weather, seeing 'our' swan family on the canal (we've watched all 7 cygnets grow from tiny sized to now almost full adult sized and their white feathers are starting to come through), family bbq, DH's car passing MOT (so work can wait until next month)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206 -
Good morning!
Decided to do a mid-month (almost!) review:Health:
i) Routine - I have written out a morning and evening routine, as well as structured my work vs my days off - Not really stuck to it - will revisit today.
ii) Activity - As of almost a week ago I am aiming for a step target of 7000 per day (with a long term goal to build up to 10k). On top of that I have been managing 3 gym sessions per week. Achieved.
iii) Diet - I am using my fitness pal again and tracking my intake... so far lost 2 kg since Jun/July time. Slow and steady is the game for me... and consistency. Achieved.
iv) Me-time - I am allocating time each day for reflection, Friday evening as a pamper evening, and Sunday when I am home from my folks, as a total chill out time. Having too much chill out time and not so much reflecting as switching off gaming lol.
Wealth:
i) Budget - I really need to get this back on track. I have one - but have been putting stuff on my card and moving it to the never never - buy now, pay in 2 years. Bad habit. So I am going back to drawing money and limiting myself like that. Drawing money out. Had to rehash budget as healthy eating turning out quite expensive.
ii) Plan for December - I don't really do Christmas but am putting money away anyway into a sort of annual spends/emergency fund type account, and will have £200 towards Xmas for family stuff. On track.
iii) NSDs - I am aiming for 15. Helps to be more mindful of spending and plan better. On 4! I best keep an eye on this.
Life well-lived:
i) Schedule - My schedule is mostly taken up with work, parents and new health/fitness/self-development stuff I am doing. Most of my friendships are now remote/online. Enjoying online support.
ii) Life Admin - Booked in for blood tests. Need to book in for a dental check. Blood tests done. Dental check... oops!
iv) Stuff - I am pretty minimalist - but since moving in a year ago I still have boxes unsorted, and stuff in cupboards unlooked at. Where has the time gone? Mission de-clutter will begin, one box/cupboard at a time!!! Done a whole 2 cupboards... will re-visit.
v) Gratitude - I am factoring time in to the end of my day 30 minutes before bed when I can do my gratitude list. My end of day routine hasn't been implemented still. I will re-visit again.

Nothing spent yesterday or today so now on NSD No 10
The Boy came for dinner yesterday. I was feeling a bit worried that we might be breaking rules (no households allowed to meet indoors!) but he lives alone, works from home and isn't socialising with anyone else. At least not in person - he's a huge gaming fan and it is interesting to hear what is happening in other countries. But I've discovered he can be in a social bubble with us so no rules broken. Happy Boy. Mummy can make his Sunday dinner and do his washing. And he can do some shopping etc for me. That would only be in an emergency though. These rules are becoming increasing confusing but I guess common sense is the key.
Going to get my hair done tomorrow. Excited (I look like one of the witches from Macbeth) but really apprehensive too. I haven't been anywhere since March.
Mothernerd - I love canal boats. Friends of ours had one and we spent many a great holiday on them . They only travel about four miles an hour and it just slows your life right down. I loved sitting and watching all the wildlife on the canal. Not a lot of canals around our way. We could write a book about our travels and misadventures on that boat.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
Afternoon all. Haven't posted for a few days as enjoying some time with my parents as I have this week off work. The weather is beautiful but parents are so negative about everything that it's a bit of a downer I must say.
Spends are under control and haven't spent anything that wasn't planned. Heading back home tomorrow via a charity where I'll be volunteering as of Friday up until Xmas. Going to meet them and find my bearings. Seeing as I have so much annual leave left I thought I might as well put it to good use!

Hi everyone
Thanks for the birthday wishes Apple its tomorrow. My friends came up yesterday and took me out for a meal before they are put into a potential lockdown (Birmingham) even though they don't live anywhere near the affected areas, and it was really lovely to see them and the meal was great, felt really spoilt! Tomorrow my youngest is coming to take me out and we will go somewhere quiet and nice and hopefully have something to eat as well.
My half time round up:
Health
Most of the exercise Im getting at the moment involves the allotment, which I'm in the process of clearing ready for the winter months and changing it around a bit, so not a lot of organised walking going on I'm afraid, but I will try harder on that one.
Food, back at SW and apart from yesterday and tomorrows meals out I'm pretty much ok with it, I hadn't put on as much as I thought I had - yay! and as I had paid upfront before the lockdown I still have 4 weeks before I have to pay again, which I had forgotten about..
Wealth
I must be saving some money as I have quite a few nsd's now, but anything leftover at the end of September will go into my sinking funds. Still using CC to pay for groceries - for the extra points, but that will be paid of in full when due. Bills paid by dd, so I don't have to worry about them and will have to book in the car for its mot and service but I have the money for them and they aren't due until next month really but I like to use the earliest date I can without losing the month on the mot.
'C' - I have bought a bought a couple of very small items when grocery shopping but I have asked dds if I can give them the money to buy the dgc's presents and I will wrap them up, so they at least get something that they will like! (cheating, I know!!!)
Life
Still not managed to book dental appt as they are still catching up and they have said they will get back to me, so I have put it on the calender to phone again in the middle of October if I don't hear anything, at least its saving me money!
Last bit of childcare done as they are all back at school and happy, but may have to continue picking one of them up on a Fridays if they keep up the weekly deep clean there, they have said they are stopping it, but I will keep it free so I'm available, just in case.
Gratitudes:
The lovely warm weather today.
Seeing the dgc all playing together (from different households) in my back garden on Saturday
Meal out with my good friends, who I haven't seen for ages

evening everyone
I shall jump on the half month review bandwagon thank you @Abundant!
Health
Exercising has recommenced very slowly. Managed only a 10 min run this morning but it’s better than nothing. STILL debating whether to rejoin the gym.
I’ve decided that at the very least I need to try to get sweaty at least once a day
Will need to work on this for the second half of the month.
Wealth
NSD 5 today. Although I have eaten out this month I have chosen very cheap places, we’ve been cooking from home and have had no takeaways so far, so I’m happy.
Need to do better on NSDs and general spending - this week will start to get better as bf is back to work (from home)
I have two weeks before work starts again (I hope) so trying to prepare bits and pieces for classes. I will see how many hours I get and see whether I can fit my private classes around those hours.... this may mean I’m teaching 40+ hours a week but I’d rather "make hay while the sun shines" after 5 months of not working full time.
Will see how long I can do it for before it gets too much… maybe that’s a silly idea but I will know quickly if it’s feasible to do without going insane.
Life well lived
Finally did some reading today. Will make it part of my daily routine.
Video called a friend who’s recently moved back to the UK. Tried my best to provide support (she’s finally been diagnosed with a personality disorder after being misdiagnosed for years in Spain.) I hope I managed to take her mind off things.
Still need to write some letters/cards to family and friends who I haven’t seen since Christmas. Need to do this in the next 2 weeks.
Grateful for being able to read easily while tuning out bf teaching in the background, free online resources and for good news from work (almost)Student loan £5655

Monday- NSD 9/15- going well so far.
20000 steps today, minimal decluttering- watched a DVD and added it to the CS box, some paperwork sorted while i watched it so most of that is in the recycling pile, tea was from the freezer or homegrown so that helps as well.
Gratitudes- DD suggesting we gave some newly dug up potatoes to our neighbour- she can be such a sweetie when she wants to be, homegrown veg tasting great and DD eats things we grow ourselves that she won't entertain if they come out of a packet, a friend agreeing to fix something in the house for me- this needs sorting before I leave the rented house and I was worried about how to deal with it but he thinks it will be an easy job (all jobs are easy if you know how to do them!)7
