To those switching in BoS accounts, I'm sure they were expressly excluded from the switching offer on the application form.

For context, we were making an application as an existing Current Account customer and whilst logged in.

Yes that is the case.See near the bottom of this page.

You won't qualify for the Switching offer if you:

    • are switching to a Basic Account, a Student Account or a Youth Account.
    • are a Bank of Scotland bank account customer switching to Halifax.

I can't speak for others, but my BOS current accounts are not displayed in my Halifax online banking, they are only visible when logged in to a different account which only works on the BOS app and online banking site. There was no mention of the switching offer when I applied for my new Reward account through the Halifax app, and later logged in to internet banking to apply for the switch, the only place I've seen it mentioned is the Halifax website.
Edit: Thanks noh, I must have missed that, I guess I'll need to switch my Co-op account then. It was for the chop anyway, and didn't want to start a switch until my last reward payment was received.

Does anyone know if you have to do anything separately with cancelling the Ultimate Reward account benefits?

I'm not interested in them, but wondering if there's any extra hassle because of their inclusion, after the application or when downgrading.

It should be noted that page also states:

"You’re eligible for the switching service offer if you switch into one of the following accounts:

    • a Halifax Reward Current Account
    • a Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account (£17 maintaining the account fee applies with this account)
    • an existing Halifax Current Account if opened before 3rd December 2016"
...But I don't think that third bullet point is actually true. Maybe I did read that bit after all and automatically discounted it as I thought it referred to a previous offer.
  • ive had a quick look at t+c and i cant see anywhere it excludes BOS, so its probably OK, only mention of any parent is exclusion of LBG employees for the offer

Time will tell. I'll know one way or another by the 13th and will report back. It makes no sense for anyone to start a new switch from BOS now while it is unclear. I still think the phrase "bank account that you hold with another bank" could be problematic, although I think soulsaver has raised a very valid objection to that being used to exclude other group members/brands.

my old account is tsb so does not affect me but it would be ridiculous for halifax to exclude it in their front page t+c's (which judging by some of the questions asked on this page, many dont read anyway) and only after entering all personal details and being accepting, then only at the pont of using the CASS form to exclude BOS.

The T+Cs I linked to are for the switching service only.
They are not the T+Cs of the £100 offer.
