...... the UR with its dubious bounty of insurances .......
For somebody needing Breakdown and Mobile insurance, the UR could be quite decent value for money, especially if they also get the monthly fiver. Travel insurance might not be so relevant for a while, and I don't know how decent their Home Emergency cover is, but if either or both of them get added in also, it seems a great deal for £12 a month.

While I’m going on a tangent to the original topic the Nationwide Flexplus account seems to offer superior travel insurance & breakdown cover (Nationwide has EU breakdown and both account holder and their vehicle are covered, whereas Halifax is account holder only). Non iPhone users have less excess too.
Admittedly, no home emergency cover though.

True I guess. Not for me though!
Have read the offer terms and conditions and there deposit appear to be any stipulation about keeping the account open for any period of time without the £100 being taken back in the event of closure or down/up grading.
My next battle may be the fact that when I opened the account today I couldn’t complete the Switch due to Halifax system error so does that now make the account I just opened an ‘existing account’ that won’t qualify for the offer!?

I noticed that the MSE weekly email states that the switch bonus is paid before the switching process completes. If I opened the account yesterday (Tues) and picked 13th Aug as my switch date, what date would you expect it to be paid in, assuming no problems with my account switching over?
  • Some important exclusions

    • Does not include AA Relay, which would recover you to any single UK destination of your choice. Under this cover if it is not possible to fix the vehicle at the roadside, you will be recovered to a local repairer of the AA’s choice or a destination of your choice provided it is no further.
I am due to renew my breakdown cover but this exclusion I get for about £60 a year with green flag or similar, and the other benefits don’t benefit me so I’d be stuck with an account that is of little use. I may hang back and see if it is easy to downgrade before I do this one.

Have managed to open a new Reward account but struggling to complete the switch request - keeps throwing up a 'Technical Problem'. Hopefully it's not just because they don't accept hyphens in the Name field...

I last had a bank account with them in 2014 and was closed in 2016 so my understanding is I am ok for the bonus. So I applied last night and everything went through with no issues. Received text to day switch has started. However the only problem I have I do not know how to marry up my HX cc account online with the new bank account rather than two separate logins.  Does anyone know how you do this please.

The instructions online state go to Service tab and select manage Account but can not find this on my home page. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Think Halifax does it for you especially if you logged in first to make the new application.
    My new account appeared immediately.
  • So, I have a "spare" current account with the natwest and Im wondering if I can switch to it and get the bonus £100 then jump ship again if/when another offer comes along. Anyone see anything saying you have to stay with them for a certain period of time??

Tried to open an account but it just crashes with a "something has gone wrong" message.  Bodes well.....
