You could see this coming...........You're right, of course. It should obvious to anybody who has been paying attention for the past few months, that the situation on Monday is unlikely to bear any resemblance to the situation by Friday, and that the legal protections that people assume exists, are, at best, hard to enforce and, at worst, imaginary. That said, I still feel for the majority of people, who do not have the exposure to the same stories that many on this board have.2 -
Easyjet have cancelled our holiday on the 14th August hours after the gov announcement, thought they may have waited as our May holiday which was also cancelled but only 6 days before, thinking it may change again by then.
Also this needs updating on the main site.
The announcement is likely to cast doubt on thousands of holidaymakers' plans and have huge implications for the struggling travel industry. Package holiday firm Tui has already said it will cancel planned holidays to Spain and customers will be contacted to discuss options. However British Airways and Easyjet said flights will continue to operate.

This simply isn't true. A lot of insurers say that if you took an annual policy out before Coronavirus began, and you made a booking while FCO advice allowed travel (eg you booked for Spain before today), you can now claim for cancellation due to this change.Streaky_Bacon said:It is very unlikely that you be able to claim for anything related to COVID19 disruption on your insurance.0 -
Ah, you spotted the deliberate mistake!bradders1983 said:
Indeed it isnt, given they are going with Easyjetmattyprice4004 said:
No, you either go and quarantine or forfeit the cost of the flights.ascok said:Where do we stand if we have checked in online for our flights for next month (easyJet) but we can’t isolate as we now have to, can we get a flight refund does anyone know ?
It’s not Jet2’s problem

What about the risk when you're sitting on an aeroplane all bunched up together though, breathing stale and recycled air between you each way?bradders1983 said:
Well, not quite, given some areas of Spain have miniscule rates and some areas of the UK have higher rates.Aside from having to quarantine the obvious risk here is that you are at increased risk of catching COVID whilst in Spain.
I would suggest you are more at risk going to Leicester and Blackburn currently than Las Palmas and Benidorm. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. What an absolutely stupid and selfish comment.bradders1983 said:
Suppose it depends if people can afford 2 weeks off work unpaid or not. A lot of people currently abroad are now going to be plunged into this dilemma and I wouldnt blame them for one second if they ignored it.lisyloo said:
It’s unlikely someone will knock on the door, but if you’ve specifically been toldbradders1983 said:
No just him. But again i havent heard any case of it actually being enforced.cambb said:Does anybody know if my son comes home tomorrow from Spain does the whole family have to quarantine?

What about sitting on planes, never mind about when you reach your destination. People are still dying from coronavirus all over the world. People travelling around on planes are just spreading the virus. What the hell? Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Do you have any evidence this has happened on a widespread scale?MalMonroe said:What about sitting on planes, never mind about when you reach your destination. in this current climate, why on earth would anyone book a holiday abroad at all? Just stay in this country for a break.5
