Does anybody know if my son comes home tomorrow from Spain does the whole family have to quarantine?
No just him. But again i havent heard any case of it actually being enforced.
It’s unlikely someone will knock on the door, but if you’ve specifically been told
to isolate then it’s selfish not to isn’t it?
Suppose it depends if people can afford 2 weeks off work unpaid or not. A lot of people currently abroad are now going to be plunged into this dilemma and I wouldnt blame them for one second if they ignored it.

i can't believe this wasnt predicted -- oh wait,it was.
Why on earth any same/sensible person would book a holiday to Spain this summer (that wasn't booked pre-March)

I’ve lost someone to covid, fortunately not to Someone else’s selfless.
i sincerely hope no one else does but the fact is if people don’t do what they are told (like they haven’t at bars in mangaluf) then our loved ones will die.
im truly sorry you think that justifieS those actions.
a responsible employer should question someone going back to work Out of concern for other employees as usually holidays are mentioned beforehand and not kept secret.

Suppose it depends if people have told their employer they actually went abroad.

    Most people don’t keep
    their holidays a secret from
their colleagues and many put it on Facebook. They could face the sack from an employer that wants to avoid paying redundancy as putting everyone else
at risk constitutes gross Misconduct. They wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.

I am sure some people have a quite seperate work and home life. But we digress.

Who would want to book any Spanish holiday now?  Even if you're someone for whom Quarantine isn't an issue (retired, home working etc) you still face an increased chance of cancellation if other bookers start to cancel themselves.

Just how many Spanish package holidays are going to be cancelled and refunded in the coming weeks and will travel firms be able to cope with this further blow?

This is surely also going to have ramifications beyond Spanish holidays.  I imagine a lot of people would be wary of booking holidays to other destinations currently not subject to Quarantine in case they are returned to the quarantine list.

Edit:  My partner has already suggested that she wouldn't be prepared to book ANY foreign trip now.

It seems rather kneejerk if it includes ALL of Spain. As far as I am aware the Portugal "quarantine" doesnt include Madeira so no reason why the Spanish one cant exclude the Balerics/Canaries.

Suppose the problem is the Spanish could reciprocate.

Very interesting: the FCO page for Spain is advising against all travel to Spain EXCEPT to the islands, yet I havent seen anything anywhere yet that excludes the islands from the 14 days on return 🤔

Edit - seems later on in the page it clarifies it is just mainland Spain

Double edit - they changed it again! So they are not advising against travel to the Canaries but telling people they have to quarantine anyway! Oh dear. So no insurance policy will pay out for those going to the islands, this is going to be fun.

Really need the FCO to change there advice on Spain and then travel insurance kicks in
It is now official - avoid non-essential travel to Spain. Includes Canaries and Balerics.

From 26 July, the FCO advises against all non-essential travel to mainland Spain based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks. Only the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa) and Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera) are exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel.
