Just got our offer too! Hurray! All searches are back too and all fine so onward with the process! Only spanner in the works is that Nationwide have listed our solicitors name wrongly on the paperwork so that needs to be corrected but otherwise we're good to go!
Congratulations! How long did it take from application to offer.
We actually initially put our application in on the 29th July but were declined just over a fortnight ago as we had applied for a 90% LTV mortgage with a largely gifted deposit without realising it wasn't allowed with Nationwide. On the day we were declined we amended our application and resubmitted it at 85% LTV having managed to scrape together some more savings in the meantime!
  • What did it take for your broker/mortgage consultant to escalate the case?
Our mortgage consultant won't escalate even though we had our valuation back on the 19th of August and the total application time is now at 60 days.

I actually went over my mortgage advisor as his timings aren’t the best.... I contacted nationwide Friday, and they told me they were waiting for a recent payslip, which we had no idea about!!!!! So I sent that off Friday and my case has been escalated today! I’m fuming because I’ve paid the MA so much money and we’ve done half of it ourselves 😭 My timeline is below!

  • I've recently applied aswell but been waiting a while for confirmation.
My MB didn't send off the payslip or seems to be very slow.

Got you, thanks. I might try and escalate it with Nationwide directly tomorrow instead of through the Nationwide consultant.

    My timeline:
    DIP 16/07
    Mortgage App Submitted 28/07
    Valuation booked 28/07
    Valuation completed 09/08
    Valuation reviewed and accepted 19/08

Not sure how much it matters but we're porting with a 75% LTV
  • I rang up Nationwide directly today and was told because we re-submitted documents on the 3rd of September we now need to wait till the 21st of September for them to be processed. Even though we submitted all the documents on the 31st of July and some of them were processed on 5th August (why weren’t all?). We were told that they were missing on the 1st September so got them re-submitted and put us back into the queue. Makes no sense, contacted my consultant today to try and sort things out but don’t have any hope. They’re also refusing to escalate.

Chain is about to fall apart. Very frustrating!

Sounds like an absolute nightmare! This was my worry that I kept stressing about, that the company we are trying to buy the house from, would get fed up of waiting and sell it on to someone else 😂 The sales team kept reassuring me it was fine and they knew it was a pain with the backlog from Covid, but their solicitors were hassling my solicitor daily!

I’m going to ring nationwide again to try and get a bit more push on my case, considering it’s been escalated now! 🙄
