Hi. We had to pull out of our purchase after the electrical survey came back with the property needing a full rewire (on top of the damp and timber works we already knew about) plus asbestos removal.

So we’ve been lucky and had an offer accepted on the house we really wanted to see originally but couldn’t because the vendor stopped viewings because of lockdown.
We’ve applied for the new mortgage. Has anyone else reapplied so quickly after being accepted?
Do Nationwide do a second hard search even if it’s less than a month after the first mortgage approval?
    Applied on Monday.
    Valuation booked for 15th
Hi, sorry to hear you’ve had problems, fingers crossed this purchase goes smoothly!
We applied for to port our mortgage in November and had the offer through in early December but unfortunately our buyer lost their buyer so we ended up losing our purchase, we found a new one in early January so submitted a new application on the 14th of January and got our new mortgage offer through on the 5th February, I think it only took this long (three weeks) because of them having to wait for a date the vendor could let them in for the valuation else I suspect it would have been quicker. As far as I can tell they didn’t do another hard search, the original one showed straight away on credit karma and there has only been the soft search at the point of getting the DIP this time.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks @AHT2020 We actually had a new hard search logged yesterday. Valuation was this morning so just waiting to hear about that. Doesn’t look like it’ll be today so we wait....again. Haha.
  • we had valuation instructed. can't do for over 2 week though which is frustrating

Oh typical, I did find that when reading this thread, it seems that it happens differently for everyone! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Well for what it’s worth we got our offer two days after valuation the second time (the first time the valuation was right at the beginning) so fingers crossed you hear something today!
  • Hi guys wonder if anyone can give me any insight.
Me and partner have had DIP approved straight off.
We are getting a 90% LTV mortgage, and our affordability came back around 65k higher than the mortgage amount.
The DIP asked for latest payslips only, and we don't bank with Nationwide.
The valuation has also been booked in.
Are we likely to only have to supply payslips?

    Hey Guys,
Been following this thread nervously waiting in the hope of a mortgage offer, thought id share my timeline and try an help people not to stress, although that means nothing as its one hell of a ride
😂. Sole applicant applying to borrow at 90% LTV, One CCJ for a little over £700, registered in 2015, Satisfied in 2019. That is the only blemish on my credit file.

    15/02/20 Applied for DIP (REFER)
    19/02/20 Made offer on house
    19/02/20 Offer declined
    19/02/20 Increased Offer
    21/02/20 Offer accepted 😃
    22/02/20 Mortgage application submitted
22/02/20 Docs submitted (Last months payslip, Proof of deposit, 3M Bank statements)
23/02/20 Valuation booked for next day
    24/02/20 Valuation complete
25/02/20 Request for new Docs (Screenshots not acceptable!)
Back and fourth down to me not providing the right docs! In the end i went into my bank and got printouts of proof of savings!!
04/03/20 All docs good and passed for full assessment
05/03/20 Sent back from Underwriters! They couldn't find the correct proofs attached to my case and queried a question on the mortgage application!
Rang up and a very helpful staff member attached a note to the case! 🙄

    05/03/20 Case submitted! Again!

09/03/20 Mortgage Offer today at 10:30am Woooooo!!! 🥳

Nationwide have been great so far! Just make sure you submit the correct docs an things should go alot smoother for you, hey im a FTB and i didnt have a clue what i was doing and decided to scrimp it out and try to save money on the MB! I certainly paid for it with stress and worry tho lol.

Good Luck to everyone of ya 👍🏼

Here's my timeline with Nationwide. I've been very happy with them so far:

02/03/2021 (5:09 PM) - Mortgage Application Submitted (started out by filling out the DiP form and just continued with full application)

02/03/2021 (6:41 PM) - Received text informing that valuation has been booked for next day (for 03/03/2021 at 09:15 AM)

03/03/2021 (3:59 PM) - Received 2 texts simultaneously informing that valuation has been completed and a mortgage offer has been provided

04/03/2021 - Mortgage offer received by my solicitor

08/03/2021 - Received the offer letter in the post

  • My timeline with a Nationwide remortgage (coming from Barclays) was:
    08/02/2021 - DIP
09/02/2021 - Valuation booked with Countrywide for 24/02
    24/02/2021 - Valuation complete
    03/03/2021 - Mortgage offer
It probably would have been quicker as I had initally applied through my mortgage broker with Danske Bank but they are supposedly adverse to any sort of unsecured lending at the minute so Nationwide was next on the list. Also would have been quicker only Countrywide didnt have any appointments available for 2 weeks. They also downvalued the property but thats another story! All in all can't complain. Completion date is 30/04/2021 so a bit to go yet.
  • Applied for a mortgage with Nationwide after my West Brom application was rejected because they wouldn't lend on the property because of open deck access (which the property doesn't really have but never mind!).
NW valuation survey was booked last week and done yesterday, and got the text this morning saying they had the report and will spend the next few days reviewing.
I haven't had a hard credit check done yet, only the soft one, but looking at other people's timelines their hard credit check was done before the valuation. Is there something weird happening with my application, or is it normal that it can be done after valuation?

My valuation was done before the hard search.
    Application submitted - 22/03
    Valuation - 23/03
    Hard credit check - 30/03
    Offer - this morning 😊
